Upholding The Honor.
#1

I hope that I will be able to make Hershey next year, whats a 1200 mile drive amongst friends. In 2003 I made the drive from Florida in the 93 cab I owned at that time. I had a great time and was surprised to have won best Cab. The award sill hangs in my office at home.

Years have past since I sold that car, and played with others that should have made me happy but in reality did not. After a few years with those other cars I sold them too. More years went by and I still missed that 968, finally this past August I replaced it with a 93 Cab in white and tan. The car was solid but had been neglected over the years and I have spent my time and efforts in bringing it up to the standards of my old one.

This weekend my wife and I attended the PCA Zonefest in Vero Beach Florida which is 120 miles north of were I live in Ft. Lauderdale. The turnout was outstanding with over 100 Porsches of every kind being there. In that gagle of porsches only two were 968's with one being mine and the second one being a lovely blue coupe.

As it turned out we were both entered into the Concours and would be in the same class. to be honest I had entered not with any feeling of competing for a top spot but as a very good way of learning what needed work to make my car better, and to have fun. As far as it goes my vote was for the blue coupe followed by a 928 the was also in our class. After that it could be any number of 944's that were entered.

At the award banquet that night when my class was called, 3rd place went to the 928, 2nd was the blue 968 and then they said, 1st place was the white 968 Cab owned by Peter Olliviere. I almost fell out of my chair. To top things off the blue 968 also won it's class in the Autocross. It feels good to have others honor the effort I have put into this car. but more important I think others, especially in the PCA are starting to see the 968 as a real Porsche. So we should all take a collective slap on the back for upholding the honor of the 968.

Way to represent for the 968s!

I dream of the day when I can enter mine into an event like that here... sooo much work to do before that happens. For example, first it needs to run!
