Hello... New to forum, but not to 968's
#1

Hello from Detroit MI. I'm jumping through the hoops to check out this forum! As the title indicates, I have some 968 experience already. I've owned my guards red 93 Coupe (6-speed) since 2001. Before that, it was a 1988 944 I bought when I was 16. Currently, my daily driver is a 95 Mercedes E300 Diesel.

The last couple years, life has gotten in the way of my Porsche passions. I didn't even get the 968 out of storage last year. But I'm looking to rekindle this season. I had been fairly active on one of the old forums... .net... until it went to hell. I'm a DIYer, and all of the Porsche forums have been an immense help in keeping the car in great condition. It seems like I've had the joy to experience most of the common problems on this model, but it's very rewarding to solve those problems with hands-on work.

Looking forward to see what this group has to offer, and to offer some experiences in return.

i think there is another new member in your neck of the woods that could use some help finding a mechanic (MLB). perhaps you could reach out to him?

Hi Jeff,

Welcome to the forum. Many of us here are amateur wrenchers as well -- I, for one, am restoring my '93 pretty much by myself. More DIY experience is always welcome, and I hope we can help you at some point!

Welcome. You're fortunate to have Porsche Parade in Traverse City this year. How close are you to that?

Welcome.

Good choice in cars.

The W124 Chassis Mercedes is the last great one they built, you can find that car on every continent on the planet. I have a 93' with the M104 inline 6, with 220,000 miles. Great car.

Search search and search some more, it is all here and enjoy.

Welcome.

Glad you "came over"!

When you reach the appropriate level, post pictures. We all like to see what the others 968 looks like! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

Thanks everyone.

@FQ ... I've been very pleased with the W124. It was one of the cars on my bucket list, and I finally got one two years ago. Like the 968, it just feels special to me. Like it was designed and assembled by engineers in labcoats rather than robots and computers. I'm sure most modern cars surpass it technically in every area, but it is so much more than the sum of parts. 155k miles and counting.

@tamathumper ... I'm completely on the opposite end of the lower peninsula from Traverse City (which we like to call TC), but most Michiganders trek Up North in the summer anyway. I hadn't heard about the Porsche Parade being up there. I'll have to see if I can make it. Thanks.
