Hello From Shawnee, KS
#1

I'm a new 93 968 Coupe owner (wife says middle age crisis). We have a 944, 944 Turbo, and now a 968 at my house. One of my sons owns the turbo. I originally set out to purchase a 944 Turbo for myself; however, I happened upon a 968 that was local in the Kansas City area and bought it. Now, I still kind of want the 944 Turbo but this 968 is growing on me. They certainly are a beautiful car!

I hope to share good information here - there aren't many of us around.

Here is some information on my car that I got from the RL forum:

Welcome! Don't listen to your wife, it's just an interest you have which she should encourage. With all due respect of course to your wife!

Yes, I did buy that car. So far, very happy with it. The last owner had it about two years. The owner before him really put maximum effort into the car. He replaced or fixed just about everything, very meticulous. He keep excellent records.

Thanks for all the welcomes!

Welcome to the Forum! The more you drive your 968 the more you will want to drive it. Having the means to acquire and enjoy a childhood dream is not a mid-life crisis. It is simply reaching a lifelong goal. The problem is, as much as we love our women, they are clueless as to why men love their cars. We love them for the sound and the feel of how they drive. When they were younger and saw a man in a very nice car, their thoughts were more likely along the lines of estimating that person's net worth. Perhaps they are fearful others are doing the same.

Will all do respect to all our wives, they need to try to understand a man's connection with the car. They should embrace their man's interest in the cars as a healthy diversion from the relentless stress of working. What the hell, maybe they would become addicted as well!

Really, my wife is just teasing me. She actually encouraged me to buy the car. She also encouraged me to buy a four post car lift last year! You can't beat that.

I never thought about Porsche cars when I was young - Detroit muscle cars was all I knew. My middle son got me interested in sports cars when he bought his first 944. I went with him to pick it up (he couldn't drive a stick yet) and drove it home. He got home before me, why, because I took the windy roads! I was hooked.

Oh, and the car lift, THE BEST CAR TOOL EVER. I really don't know how I survived without one.

I spent this evening putting a fabspeed exhaust on my son's 951. Unfortunately, we had a few fitment issues. We will get them worked out, half the fun!

Welcome! Glad you took the 968 plunge!

And as I read the intro I somehow knew that DaveN would make a remark about the color... <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/clap.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
