Hello from Raleigh, NC!
#1

I just purchased my first porsche, and I wanted to sign in and say hi to everyone! My car is a 95 Silver/blue cab with 76k miles on the clock! She needs a little love, but I am very excited to start driving the car on the regular!

The timing belt was done 8 years ago, but only 20k miles ago.....just the same, I may be looking for a loaner tool, a helper, or potentially a good mechanic to get the belt done in the very near future.

welcome to the site

DO THE TIMING BELT NOW!!!!!!!

don't even start the car. starting it is what presents the most risk of snapping. it is not about mileage as much as it is age. 3 years is the change interval. 5 is very risky. 8 is russian roulette. do not use Conti belts.

Welcome Shelby! Flash speaks the truth. Don't start that sweet machine until you get that old brittle belt out of there!

Welcome Shelby...I'm near Rocky Mount...if you're looking for a good shop I'd recommend European Performance - which I found out about on this site...I just had them change my belts and other things...they appear to be good and reasonable - and care about Porsches...

Jimmy, do you recall what the total bill was for changing the belts? The WP and tensioners are all less than 20k miles old, so I am only looking to get the belts changed.

let's start a new thread for this before it becomes a confused multi-topic thread

p.s. - belts are about a grand, depending on the shop (don't let them convince you to use conti)
