Hello from Portlandia!
#1

New member here... just made a deal for a nice white 93 coupe 6 speed. Seems there are a few around Oregon and the rest of the Pacific Northwest. I have always loved the 968's and jumped at a chance to put one in my garage. It basically needs nothing which is good as I have plenty of other car projects to work on.

I am a total Porschephile... I have owned 4 944's, and a 951. Currently my stable is an 87 944 PRO44 race car, an '01 Boxster S daily driver (that I would like to turn into a racer), and now this one.

I am sure to be posting more here as I am a computer guy and generally try to know everything about the cars I own. I do all my own wrenching so the internet is an invaluable resource.

Welcome,

It is traditional for all new members from Portland to send a case of Dundee Hills finest to the owners of the site as a "getting to know you" kind of thing (Sorry, we don't have a wine glass toast)

Hope you enjoy the site,

Jay

As a fellow wino, I just wonder what your idea of the 'finest' in Dundee Hills is? Personally, I would have to say Cameron. John Paul's wines have a character unlike any other. But lots of other contenders no doubt. We have put a lot of miles on the Boxster down in wine country. It is only about an hour to Dundee from my house and there are plenty of twisty roads. We are members at Eyrie and do a lot of local tasting dinners and get togethers. I am sure the 968 will get some good mileage there too!

Anything from White Rose, DePonte, Ebony, Archery Summit, Christom, Elk Cove, Beaux Freres, Domaine Serene..or just a nice mixed selection from the Tasting Room (library room, of course) in Carlton...nothing special

I know of that CnC... my in-laws live just across I-5 from that location. A couple of my racer buddies head out there regularly. My street cars aren't very worthy so I have not attended yet, but I certainly will now!

I met a guy a couple of years back in my neighborhood (Milwaukie) that had both a coupe and a cab, but I haven't talked to him in a while.

Picked up the car today!

Rode down in a 944, then took that car apart for belts and a water pump. Got that done, did paperwork on the 968, and drove it 4 hours home up the Oregon coast, over the coastal mountain range on some nice twisties, and back to Portland.

Welcome to Forum! I'm from Portlandia too. I'm open to any get-togethers. I've yet to even track my car, so the fact you are a racer could help to inspire me. Setting one day to meet at Cars and Coffee is easy and would be fun. Your 968 looks pretty sweet! I've yet so see a color I don't like on this car. Your white car looks great.

There are a pretty good number of folks in Portland who own 968s and a pretty good body of knowledge. I know more about the wine than the car, but I'm doing my best. The forum is a great place to learn.

Off topic wine notes: my favorites (this month) are J. Christopher, Willakenzie, Et Fille, Christom (good one Jay), and Lazy River. They are so many good wines.

I'm a fan of white cars and red wine, not as much the other way around

(though, given the right circumstances I can be swayed)

Anybody know who has a white 968 coupe in Portland with the Oregon license plate '968'? I was just coming back from lunch on SW Macadam Ave in my 968 and he passed me - without even waving. I was practically peeing myself with delight.

What is the chance two white coupes with painted rear wings pass on the road? It was only the 4th time I have driven it in town too!
