hello from pittsburgh,pa
#1

Hey everyone, I'm from a little southwest of pittsburgh, been a fan of 944's and 968's for a long time, but until now I haven't had the means to buy one. Now that I do I'm looking for info on them, what to look for, what to watch out for and all that, well that's about it I guess

I guess I should have included something more about myself, well to begin with I've grown up with a father that eats sleeps and breathes cars, specifically MG's VW's and porsches, he has a bunch of vw vans, beatles, MG midgets, B's, a BMW 2002 and, my favorite a '62 356 super 90 coupe. So u could say its in my DNA to be a car nut. Anyways I'm 25 now, a recent college graduate, I nmajored in criminal justice and minored in sociology. And have a decent job not having anything to do with my education haha go figure. But like I said I have been dreaming of owning a 944 or 968 since I was about 14 and now I just have to have one. I've driven/rode in several porsches, mostly of the 911 variety and just love the balance of handling, power, braking, and just the feel of the cars it seems like porsche produces like no other.

Welcome Alec!

This is the place to find all of the information you need on the 968.
Do some searching and you will be amazed.

If you've never been to the Porsche Swap Meet in Hershey, you should really consider going this year. It's not too far of a drive from where you are. You can learn a lot about the cars and see and hear some of the great mods that are becoming almost standard equipment on them.

ya I would love to make it to to hershey, i doubt itll happen if things keep goin like they have recently(working between80-90hrs per week) but if I have some spare time that weekend I will for sure be making the trip out there atleast for a day. Im starting to see just from looking at the cars for sale what u mean by those mods becoming standard, I looked at an 88 944 with a 968 turbo s spec engine in it a couple days, a really well done car if they will come down on the price a little, and just looking on the net it seems like all of them have atleast some type of chip or turbo or other upgrade, i was origionally looking for an all origional car butim starting to change my mind.

968crazy, Im from a little town called hickory, its like 5 minutes away from post gazette pavillion if u havent heard of it

Seeing as how your so close, that was my thought as well. You'll be able to take your time and talk with the largest assembly of 968 owners face to face.

Ya I was talkin to my dad a lil bit ago and he said hed really like to go up this year too but were going to habe to play It by ear, it'll be a last minute decision but if we can both get the time off I think were going to try to hop in the 356 and come up for it. I'm guessing the availability of hotel rooms is pretty sparse for that weekend isn't it?

most hotels allow you to make a reservation and cancel very near the date with no penalty

how yins doin?

Good to see some folks from the burgh on here. I spent many great years there myself. Try Blackburn road. It heads Northeast out of Sewickley into the boonies. A really fine road for this car. Alas I only had a truck when I lived there, and I still loved that road.

ok that's good since I rarely know when my next day off will be until a couple of days before.

I think I know of blackburn road, I used to work on the towboats so I was always around there catching a boat around that area. I wouldn't say that I know the road for sure but it does ring a bell ill have to check It out, there are lots of great driving roads all around sw pa , one of the things I like most about the area
