Hello from Paris, France
#1

Good Morning.

Just moved to Paris a year ago from San Jose, CA.

Have been an avid Porsche nut and PCA member for 15 years, GGR and LPR regions.

Starting with a 74 911S in gorgeous gemini blue as my daily ride. Leaked like a sieve yet somehow that was OK.

Then a speed yellow 73 911 RS clone I purchased at the 1999 Parade in Montreal....drove on slicks all the way home to CA.

My last and longest owned was a guards red 93 964 RS America full delete - set up for AX and track. A wonderful car.

We decided to the plunge and sell up and move to Europe. Sold the house, cars, bike, furniture...and moved to Paris.

After a year of getting adjusted I've been looking to get back into the swing of things.

I've always loved the 944 Turbo and 968 body styles and now being in Europe I have access to some of the more interesting models, UK Sports and EU Club Sports.

My 964 RSA was a perfect balance of light, fast, safe, reliable and a car you can arrive and drive in.

Having done 15 years of 911's, I'm looking into the 968 club sport as a coastal cruiser with the wife and track toy with a few local clubs. Like many, I've dreamt about tossing a car around Spa, Prenois-Dijon and The Ring and while I'm here, I'm going to make sure I hit a few of them.

So, starting to do my home work on cars, options, sports vs CS's vs std's, etc . Oh, also need my Permis du Conduire...."drivers license".... a 3 month and 1500 EURO endeavor!!!???!????!?? License first, then we'll see about a car after.

No car yet.....do have a trick bike.....

1990's Cannondale CAAD2 mountain bike, stripped, Carrera gray with Michelin Slicks ( really )...

Welcome Ross, hope you like it over there. 1500€ for a license? Wow, are you allowed to pilot an F-16 with that too?

Anyway, don't forget your rain tyres when visiting Spa. It can be really wet over there (and it probably will), but it's second to none!

Cheers

I love Paris! What a beautiful and interesting city with so much art and music.

This site contains volumes of useful information for new and old owners. I sold my 968 about a year

ago but still enjoy the conversation and Porsche cars in general.

For what it is worth, the best mods for the 968 for me were upgrading suspension components, sway bars,

tires, and installing a Guards torque-biasing differential. Together, these upgrades helped the car to become

beautifully responsive and predictable.

I now drive the same routes in and around Central Jersey, but in a Lexus LS430. I have to leave a lot earlier now to get to appointments on time!

Good luck living in France and getting involved with the 968. By the way, do I remember correctly that in France drivers already in roundabouts have to yield to those entering?

Cheers!
