Hello from Oregon
#1

Hello everyone.

I am a new member interested in purchasing a Porsche 968. I owned a 911 GT3 (996 model) before and several BMW M models as well as other sporty cars.

I am completely new to FR based Porsches and I am hoping that this forum will enlighten me as to the purchase and subsequently maintenance of 968s. Hope to find one soon since I just sold my BMW E85 M Roadster and need a car immediately. Looking for a coupe with low miles and no modifications.

Cheers,

Matt

first, welcome to the club.

as for your search, don't expect it to be quick or easy. people often spend months looking for the right car. these things are relatively rare, and low mileage ones are getting scarce. there is one up for sale right now though, here on this site

Welcome. Definitely take your time - any 20-year-old Porsche is not something to be purchased on the quick for a daily driver.

Welcome Matt:

I'm from Portland. I just bought a 968 from a member of this forum. They are not easy to find. Occasionally a good one does come along. Good luck,

Don't be in too much of a rush that you get one with a lot of issues. Take your time, buy a beater in the meantime if you have to. With no sales tax in Oregon, you won't loose much on the exchange and you'll be glad later that you waited. Good luck in your search. I think there are 5 or so 968's in and about Portland/Oregon now that I know of.

Thanks everyone for the welcome and encouragement. It took me over 5 months to find a decent BMW E85 M Roadster which I sold very recently, but I get a sense that this search for a decent 968 is even worse. I want to get a manual tranny coupe in the right color (no more drop-tops for me in the Pacific NW), but there seems to be more 968 cabs than coupes and many cabs are automatic transmission cars. In addition, many are thrashed to my disbelief...

The search continues...
