Hello from NY
#1

Hello everyone,

Just purchased a 1993 968 supercharged coupe. Had a 924 Turbo 35 years ago and wanted to get back into a 4 cylinder Porsche. Had thoughts of building a 924GT tribute, then a modified 951, finally settled on a midnight blue supercharged 968. Thought the last 4 cylinder version would be the best one to try. Currently renovating a 1989 928 and a 1986 930 slant cab, so I know and love the brand. This 968 is in nice shape, but look forward to improving and upgrading it. Really happy to find a group of 968 enthusiasts.

Best to all,

Ted

Welcome,

Do you have the D1R supercharger?

Looking forward to hearing about your car.

Digging in to the 968. New rotors and pads mounted on freshly red powder coated calipers. raised car slightly, NY roads unforgiving with DR1 splitter.  Found a rear hatch to replace mine which has de-laminated. Going to correct the wavy side skirts and installed an Alpine ILX-650 2 DIN system.  Switched MOMO tipo wheel for 930S style.  Only complaint is single mass flywheel, requires a bit more attention to drive smoothly and quietly, plenty of gear noise under 2000 rpms.

My car has a DR1 stage three system installed and has nice power delivery from 3000 to 5000 rpms. It has a 944 S2 balancer on the front of the crank as an off set to the SMF, but I hear that later DR1 installations used a DMF which I assume is smoother and quieter.

928 project: Installing carpet, new leather covered dash and pod, just received rebuilt harness from 928srus and newly powder coated intake and valve covers, also changing alternator and PS pump. Found out that I am a pretty good carpet gluer, but probably my least favorite restoration jobs, prefer to turn wrenches and splice wires.

Best to everyone,

Ted

Welcome, don't forget the alternator wire. It's a surprise you really don't want to have!

Good luck with the 968 and the 928. Great cars, although very different.

Ted,

Welcome! Midnight Blue, the best color Smile.

And, I suppose area code 914? (Westchester), the best area code Smile...and a pretty nice Porsche too.

What year 928S? (I have one of the quad cam 32 valve motors and complete drive train for a project)

My best, J

D1R supercharger and SMF are entirely unrelated.

Yes, the 928 and 968 are quite different cars & both cool...

However, I find it interesting that if you take a 928 32 valve motor and saw it in half...it's pretty much how you get a 968 motor Smile.
