Hello from Milwaukee
#1

Recently purchased 94 aventurine green 6 speed coupe. Only history I have on it is the car fax...looks like it was raised well in the northwest (Washington & BC) to ~40k and then Arizona to at least 80k. Anyone think they know it?

This will be my first toy with 4 wheels and am really looking forward to it. Love an active community of enthusiasts and truly appreciate the brain trust.

Hi, would be fun to 'look over' the car with u this summer!

Have you ever attended the cars and coffee in Lake Mills? ( first Sunday of the month throughout the summer )

I was out of town and missed the event today but hope to attend most of the rest in my 968

Did you buy the car from someone one the east coast? An AZ friend sold a car like that last year to someone back east.

Welcome and enjoy the car. Do you have any maintenance history?

@MLB - I haven't...but sounds like fun. Will certainly be reaching out to get your thoughts on trusted repair facilities.

@az968 - I did! I picked it up in PA...actually picking it up this week and driving back to the third coast. Unfortunately I only have the car fax and no service history....something I'd be curious to see.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. As noted above have a nice 1000 mile journey to get a solid feel for her...ill save any SOS posts for the respected threads ?

So if it is the car it sounds like it is, the previous owner in AZ is a close friend of mine and I can connect you with him and Phil can tell you all about the car.  I thought long and hard about buying it from him when he put it up for sale.  I think there's a thread on the site about the car.

It has almost been a month since I picked up the 968 and drove from Provost to Milwaukee.  Since having her in my garage I have tackled the following.
  • Glove box hinge replacement
  • Drivers side door knob replacement
  • Oil Change (M1 15W50)
  • Balance shaft belt & idler pulley adjustment
  • Shift boot adjustment (wear causing bottom right to come out from under bezel)
  • Lubricated headlight mechanisms
  • Cleaned all Relays
  • Hatch seal replacement
  • Cassette storage hinge replacement
Whats next?
  • Clock light bulb replacement
  • Combination switch replacement (anyone have one handy?)
  • Horn issue (thread started, still diagnosing the issue)
  • Sunroof fix (Still have to fully diagnose)
  • Drivers side sunroof wind deflector hinge (cracked upon first time roof removal) [Anyone have one handy?]
  • Hatch glass defroster repair
  • Rear wiper diagnosis and repair
  • Wheel bearings(front)
Wish list:
  • Passenger & Driver side door panels (TT Classic Grey)  - Not sure what the part is called but the very top portion of the door panel (where door knob hole is)...mine are very sun kissed and would love to find replacements.
  • Rear wiper motor shroud
  • OEM Grey floor mats
  • Batwing (front apron)
I want to say thank you to all of the guys/gals that have chimed in and provided very helpful insight on the above.  This forum is a tremendous resource and really appreciate the warm welcome and continued support.  Thank you!

Lots of work done! And quite a list you have. You can re-dye the door panels, are they still in good shape? The rear wiper motor can be removed if you can't find a working used one, you'll need to find the delete plug. 944 style Floor mats available thru the dealers, but not 968 specific mats. What's the sun roof doing?

Thank you...its a labor of love.  They are brown and very cracked.  I have seen some posts on grey interiors and seems to be a common issue.  It looks like some members have had luck with fillers and air brush paint match.  I much rather replace, but if push comes to shove i may go to a local shop to put new vinyl on them.  As lame as it may sound I am trying to keep it as OEM as possible at this point (exhaust, chip, and airbox mod...so curious though Wink )...would like to get the rear wiper going again. Was there any difference in 944 v 968 design floor mats?  Well I found one of the gears is stripped so i replaced it and then stripped the new one...wow i really should have followed every word in clarks garage...will not make that mistake again.  I did not go through the micro-switch procedure...so right now I have the roof off and will happily wait for a new set of gears.  What a crazy design for a sunroof...grr.  FYI I connected with the couple you shared with me...they are on vaca but plan to chat with them over the phone when they get back.  Thank you again.

It's not the miles, it's the time. How recently were the belts changed?
