Hello from Langley, BC, Canada
#1

My wife Darlene and I have just imported our "new" 1993 968 CV from the Seattle area to Canada. It will be in storage for the next few months till winter is over and the salt is off the roads, and then ... let the "good times roll"! I am looking forward to gaining as much info as possible in the upcoming months so that I can keep the "baby" in top shape. We look forward to participating in local events and also the "broader" event that will take place in September 2010 in Sun Peaks, BC.
On our way home we stopped to fuel up and I had the privilege of being asked if ours was "a new model from PORSCHE"!
Look forward to being an active part of this forum!

Hi Jake,

You'll be surprised how often you get that response (about the "New" Porsche) happens to us all of the time.

Take some time to find your way around and feel free to ask questions.

Regards,

Jay

Hey Jay,

I was on the site all evening yesterday and was not able to figure out how to make a second posting. I am serious about being an active part of this forum and accessing all the valuable info that is available so I can keep my 968 in the pristine condition I bought it in! I have several pertinent questions I would like answers to, for which I am waiting to move "up" the user list for.

Cheers,

Jake

the Tutorial explains everything about access limitations, member level, and how they correlate - it will also tell you where things are on the site, and what things you will have access to at what member level

basically we set it up so as to encourage new members to poke around the site and read first, and then ask questions they can't find the answer to (thereby avoiding questions that have already been asked and answered a number of times like "will these wheels fit?")

graduation and access happens very quickly, but we have found this to be a great way to teach people about the site, and focus better on new content, rather than rehashing old content

Welcome to the forum. I think there are at least a half dozen 968 members here now that live in the LM. I'm on the island and very active in VIRPCA. Maybe we can have a 968 meet this summer.

Congratulations on your "new" 968. Good to see more of our cars in B.C. I have not be that active in local community/PCA, but hope to come out to a few events next summer.

Dave - Thanks for the welcome. A BC 968 meet would be a great idea. Are you considering the "big" PCA event in September at Sun Peaks? I do look forward to going at least once to the Island in the summer of 2010. I will go with my wife Darlene and make a "sales" trip out of it, that way the business pays for the ferry and the hotel!

mrayner - Thanks for the congrats on the "new" 968!
I took it in for the Provincial Inspection today and it passed with "flying colors"! All check marks in the "P" column (PASS). I then went to the insurance agent and it is now officially a BC car! I was told that it may qualify for Collectors plates and insurance rates. Vehicles over 15 years old that are from a "limited" production number (1500 or less units worldwide in a model year) qualify. There were 1045 Cabriolets built worldwide in 1993, so I will give it a try. The full insurance would be a fifth of what I pay now, even with the full 43% discount.
Look forward to meeting you at a few local events. Are you considering the PCA Escape 2010 at Sun Peaks in September?

I will add this post to see if my signature photo of the "new baby in the Kuik family" works.

Check out the PCA - Canada West Region website and all the info is there! It is close to Kelowna, BC. By the way, this area in September is as close as you could get to "paradise on earth"!

Thanks Kim for the "eastern" welcome. I have never been on the east coast, but recently an uncle and aunt moved to Nova Scotia, so we may be out there some day. I rather doubt that it would be in the 968 because of the distance.
