New member from New Zealand
#1

Greetings from New Zealand.

As a new owner of a 968, I'm looking forward to becoming an active member of this group of enthusiasts....

Mine is a 1993 Coupe, in Mint Green. It only has 52,000 kms (32,000 miles) on the clock.

The car is stock, with the exception of an annoying little Japanese female greeting each time you start the car, and an equally annoying external beeping when reversing.  These will be one of my first changes,  :lol:along with a new set of cam-belts, and power steering belt. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions as I get to know the car, so looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards

Michael

Welcome,

Mint Green is very rare and highly (by some) desirable.

Hope that you enjoy the site,

Jay

Hi Michael,

Welcome to the forum.

32k on the clock? Good for another 200k at least.

I'm guessing there must be some great driving roads in Kiwi-land.

Have fun!

Hey, Thanks for the welcome.

Jay, I was a little bit uncertain about the colour initially, but it's certainly distinctive and quite a head turner. Love it now....

I'll try to post a couple of pictures.

Sam, Yes, we do have some great driving roads down here in Kiwi Land. I'm a bit surprised that Clarkson, May & Hammond don't run their program from here. My wife & I did an immediate overnight road trip in the 968 from Auckland, down to Gisborne, around East Cape and back. I was a little bit nervous as I haven't changed the belts  yet, but the car ran well. It's a wee bit heavy in steering though, so I'll post a  inquiry about this in the Tech section to try and get a little advice.

Kind Regards

Michael

Michael, I have the Sport which, as you prob know, is the CS but with a few creature comforts put back in. Otherwise same suspension etc. I'd describe the steering as 'engaging' rather than heavy - tho' it is heavy by usual standards. And I say this from experience of zipping round country lanes in Scotland and Cornwall.

Engaging enough that I always make a point of avoiding even small potholes.

Clarkson loved the 968 Coupe but described the ride as 'horrid' - see this vid.

Inspired by Burt Monroe - and his World's Fastest Indian - I've been thinking of arranging a scoot around NZ on a classic motorcycle. Doing it in a 968 tho' - well that would be sweet as...!
