Hi from The Netherlands
#21

It ain't a brilliant car, but come on - for just under 11K euro I get:

- a 968!

- with new battery, alternator and/or voltage regulator (did not charge correctly, just 12-13V depending on power consumers and rpm)

- with 'APK', Dutch road test (only basic safety, but they are not allowed to accept worn rubbers, steering play and alike)

- with 2 dented panels re-done

- and needs 2 new front tires (old tires, hardly any thread and the car steers now vaggggguuueee above 70-80 mph)

Still a nice to-do list for coming months:

1. Steering bit vague on high speeds and heavy on low speeds - check level of power fluid first, then for leaks or other expensive jobs

2. Probably needs some oil, filters and plugs (will check with previous maintenance shop)

3. Airco not functioning yet (as mentioned by trader himself, to be clear) - probably needs a remanufactured pump/compressor

4. Small stuff: rear cover of towing 'eye' is not so good, sun visors need new hinge parts (drop bit down), leather needs some maintenance etc.

5. Luggage cover is missing - need to find a new one (€€€), a used one (and re-cloth it myself) or just the drawings and mounting parts and will do the clothing myself

6. Vinyl roof lining not so good at edge of Targa roof, needs at least to be glued or better to be replaced

7. Rubber seal between right sill and right rear wing needs to be replaced (seems quite a job to unscrew and unclip the sill I learned at the Dutch forum?)

8. One wheel needs to be restored a bit (no hurry)

More pics at Picasa. Hm no links here either - must start a new MyGarage topic I assume, mods!?

So, quite some hobby work (and some costly outsourcing like the aircon compressor) to do. But I count that for around 15K euro I'll have a decent 968 in my garage!

Happy browsing on the site! I have very fond memories of Dutch beer when I worked in Rotterdam many years ago. The bar De Speil, I think I've spelt that correctly. Did look at the name but it was a bit fuzzy most of the time, not surprisingly with 10/12 glasses of beer every lunchtime then 20/30 every night. Great!

Probably not, but it's very American of us to worry about it. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

Good wasn't my intent. There are just so many weak willies today that it often takes very little to offend someone.
