Hello from Charleston SC!
#1

I just purchased a 1993 968 Cabriolet to go along with my 1987 911 Carrera Targa and a 1980 924 Turbo! Can't wait to learn more about the 968 and have more Porsche fun!!

Actually haven't picked it up yet, flying to Dallas in a couple of weeks and driving it back to Charleston. 70K miles, 3 owners, 2nd owner bought it when it was 1 yr old, had it for 21 yrs. No mods, accidents, or abuse. That's why I bought it!!

Welcome !  Your in luck if you need assistance with it or general maintenance.  968 Enthusiast Cliff Hudson owns Hudson Import Service in Charleston SC (Mt Pleasant)  Look him up if you need any expertise in maintaining your new 968.

I'm betting this is the one you picked up - https://www.ebay.com/itm/1993-Porsche-968/264452565100 ?

I watched that auction closely, and if it was a coupe instead of a cab I'd of been bidding right alongside you.   If this is yours, looks like you got a great deal!    Enjoy your new ride!

Rock

Wow! If this car is as advertised you got an absolute steal...probably worth having an expert go over the entire car before you drive it too much.

Enjoy the site,

Jay

Yes, that is the car, and I think I did great! I was actually able to speak to the original owner who had it for twenty couple of years so I know the full history of it. Was apparently meticulously maintained and cared for. And thanks for the tip on Hudson's, didn't know he was a Porsche guy.

My best friend has had a 968 for years and it's been on my bucket list for a while now.

You probably need to get to 5 posts before you have full rights.

If you get there and still need help, let me know. In short, the button to edit your profile is in the upper right, scroll down under your screen name.

Charleston, SC may very well be the 968 capital of the world. Cliff Hudson is in Mt. Pleasant and owns ~5 of them, and knows at least another 4-5 people with multiple in the area. I'm not sure if he still browses this forum but he is active on the other ones.

Quite possibly true.  But, at one point in time right on my street there were four 968s within less than a 300 ft distance, followed by another two 968s on the side streets within a 1/4 mile radius, followed by yet another two 968s less than a mile away.  So in terms of location concentration we may have been among the top capitals of the 968 world.  Of course, even that pales by comparison to our forum member ( forgot the name ) in  the Netherlands who owned eleven ( or twelve )  968s, all at one time !     Had a pretty sizable parking space no doubt ..

When Pete had his RS Barn shop open, that was the center of the 968 world.

Apparently my car needs some tires soon. Any suggestions? I've always had luck with the Michelin Pilot Sports.

Absolutely nothing better than Pilot Sports. IMO. Whether PS2, or SuperSport, pr PS 4 S..all perfect .

I agree, might be a little more than others, but we'll worth it. I've actually got some Hankook's on my 911, and have been impressed. They don't seem to do as well in the wet, but don't expect to do much rain driving...

We just went over this on the Facebook group - Pilot Sport 4S are not available in our sizes, nor were the Super Sports (which I've run on 3 other cars, and love). The best tire available for road use and occasional spirited or track driving is the Continental ExtremeContact Sport. Significantly cheaper than Pilot Sport PS2 also.
