If you have any questions ask me. Although I'm not holding myself out as an expert but rather a participant! lol

No doubt the company you work for has an office in our capital? Ahh, the joys of the beltway of Brussels, the most traffic congested city in the WORLD. A dubious honor at best...

I think there maybe one or two "third world" cities that could be in close competition or perhaps even beat that dubious honor, but generally the statisticians typically consider only motor vehicles, not the combination of motor vehicles which have to share the road with and navigate around cows, goats, elephants, chickens, pedal taxis, bicycles, unicycles, etc, etc..

Lol, indeed, I heard it on the radio the other day, an institution called INRIX did the math. I believe them, although I'm pretty sure you're right about there being way more crazier traffic situations in other cities. The only thing is, despite everything, they still seem to be able to move in some way or another...

Antwerp has 2nd place, jeeej! Extra points for the politicians who spent our money on infrastructure :-(

All I really remember are the following rules back in the 90s:

1. The person on the right ALWAYS has the right of way, even if they know they will crash into you without slowing, it is better to be right than avoid an accident. I remember my instructor going nuts a few times when I slowed down because someone wasn't paying attention, and even if I had the right of way looked like they would hit me. Felt like a game of chicken!

2. Even if you are going 145kph, don't worry when the cops approach you from behind approaching you rapidly, just move out of the way and they will pass you at 170kph (I think the speed limit was 120kph)

4. Pay close attention to that car flashing his lights at you 2-3km down the road, because by the time you put your blinker on to move over, he is up your bumper!

3. If you can reach the bar to pay, we will serve you.

All in good fun, I loved my time in Belgium with the Mannequin Pis and would not trade my experience there for anything!

The Atomium with the first 70mm iMax theater in Europe

Watching people get busted on the Metro for not paying (was always the fancy ladies in business suits!)

Drinking till 4-5am in Brussels Nightlife

Food

People

And many other things!

Lol, that's 'our' little dude yes... Surrounded by hordes of Japanese tourists. :-)

Brussels is really our own little 'melting pot': a blend of a bunch of nationalities and cultures, served with Stella, fries and mayo :-)

Ps: you are quite right about the traffic, the only thing that has changed is that there's a fixed speed camera every 2 miles, to make sure the government's pockets do not get empty.

Oh yeah, and to improve safety, lol.
