Hello from Bellevue, WA
#1

I don't currently have a 968, but I am trying to learn about them before buying one. I'm hoping that coming here might help in that pursuit.

Welcome to the club! There's a handful of us 968ers in the Seattle area, maybe we'll see you around one of these days

Check out the buyers guide section and read the fix it stuff. Those areas will help you understand what the commitment is that you'll need to be happy with a 968. Other posts will help you understand just how much darned fun they are to drive. Best way possible to do that though is to find one and drive one!

Welcome.

You'll find the 968 a very satisfying experience. Good balance, lots of power for the weight, the 6 speed is fun except 6th is NOT overdrive. If you can find one it's going to be more interesting than a Boxster. Go for a cabriolet if possible, they're a hoot when it's not raining!

welcome to the site

just a point of clarification: technically 5th and 6th are both overdrive gears, as "overdrive" is defined as a gear beyond 1:1, but i think what he was referring to was a lack of the more traditional large jump in ratio to the final gear

Great plan to learn more about the car before buying one. This is the right place; there is lots of friendly advice available to you. I am also fairly new to this forum and to the 968, never thought I would own a Porsche, but glad I jumped in! Good luck with your pursuit!
