Hello From Australia
#1

Hi,

I have somehow found my way out of an obscure members listing and hopefully can now post a message.

I live in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. I have a 1995 968. The car has the following modifications;

- Big Black Brakes
- Camber Plates
- Coil-overs
- Larger Sway Bars
- LSD
- Strut Brace
- 18" Track Tyres (285's rear / 235's front)
- Turbo S front splitter
- Turbo S rear 3 piece spoiler

I regularly compete in the Porsche Club QLD motorsport program. Car now handles fantastically.

I have read with interest 928 Motorsport's release of a supercharger kit for the 968 that will allow the air conditioner to remain in place. It is winter over here and last Monday it was 35 Celcius.

I would be interested in hearing what others have done to improve their cars. I have had my 968 now for almost 3 years.

Car is Black/Black .

G'day,

I'm originally from Brisbane, but live in Dubai. Just got back from 4 glorious weeks holiday at Point Cartwright!

My 944 race car is 968 powered. We are just about to do a supercharger install ahead of the GT race season which starts in October. Will post up some results in a few weeks time.

Great - I will be very interested in your results and thoughts once the conversion is done. Clutch went at our trackday yesterday. It had the good grace to fail in the last run of the day - so cannot complain.

As per my last post - my clutch failed and I was under the bonnet of my 968. My car is actually a 1996 model car. The VIN number is a 96 and the Australian compliance plate is 01/96.

Is this unusual as most forums list the model year as 1992 to 1995? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

The VIN Number is WPOZZZ96ZRS800136

G'Day,

Nice to see another Aussie on the forum.

According to my little VIN decoder, the R means your 968 was built in 1994?!?
The 96, and the 8, is the model number (don't know why Porsche separated those digits).

But model year and build date are not necessarily the same. My 968's VIN has 1992 as the model year, although she was built late in 1991.

Hi Craig,

I watched you run at Mount Coot-tha and while I saw your second run I didn`t obtain the time. Did you better your first run?

Your car looked and sounded very special.

different countries register differently - there are countries in europe that register a car by the date of manufacture - that means there are some 91s out there

australia may register it based on the import date - i'm not sure - they have had some odd laws and stuff there about imports

the vin definitely calls it a 94 ROW hardtop - possibly a 718 car too
