Hello from Atlanta, GA
#1

Hello everyone,

I wanted to introduce myself as I am new to this forum.

I have always been a "car guy" and have owned several VWs, BMWs, and a Lotus since swearing off domestic appliance cars. I am a strong proponent of DIY maintenance/mods and driving (no garage queens here). Fortunately for me my family enjoys trips to the north GA mountains and I am in many car clubs that have group drives there monthly. I have also done a few HPDE track events.

I had a friend in HS that had an '86 944 turbo and when looking for these cars found the 968 Coupes, I might be in the market for one of these and as with other cars I have bought, wanted to join a 968 forum to see what the common issues/resolutions are and get a feel for the car.

Maybe one of these days I will own one of these cars and be able to contribute,

Bill

Bill, welcome! Just remember that the 968 is the last & final iteration of the 924/944 series and the best of the lineage. Find a good one and you'll grin big time every time you take it for a spin. Have fun, and good hunting!

Welcome Bill!

There is so much information out there (and on this forum) for DIY projects and repairs that I will be reading and planning for weeks. The car itself is very reliable provided that you perform well-known and documented maintenance tasks. It's definitely a driver's car and with your background, I don't think that you will be disappointed.

Welcome Bill,

I think you'll find the 968 is a great choice for the N. GA. mountains and DE's. I run mine at most of the Road Atlanta events with BMWCCA and PCA, and it is great on that track. If you're planning on doing more DE's, the 968 won't disappoint.

Hi Bill, I'm in Covington, GA. If you'd like to see an 968 engine opened up, you could come by. Send me a PM if interested.
