Hello !
#1

Hello from Brussels, Belgium !

I bought a 1991 midnight blue 968 coupe with light grey interior in february. A great car to drive.
Needed some engine work on the Variocam and ignition.

Regards

LD

Some info about myself and my ride...

I'm 32 years old, living in Hoeilaart near Brussels.
I am a tyres and wheels retailer.

My late 91 968 coupe is my first (but certainly not last ) Porsche.
I bought it in february at 100kmiles. Metallic midnight blue & light grey interior with "comfort" equipment.
17" cup rims with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 N3, 100% original equipment.
K&N airfilter and new Alpine sound system and handfree carkit.

Went to our local Porsche importer some days after purchase for a general checkup.
Computer said "FATAL ERROR" ! I had the Variocam chain adjuster as well as the ignition rotor replaced ! Cost : EUR 2400 (USD 3100).

Everything now seems to be ok.
I'll post some pics as soon as I'm allowed to !

Regards,

Lau

EUR2400 That's a lot of money! I hope my adjuster never fails

With this forum you will find that you are able to do many of the jobs on the car by yourself. This will save you cash in future.

Hey Johann

Hoe is't in Nederland?

Thanks for the hint!

The chain adjuster actually functions as a pump working from 4000 rpm and above.
It seems it just didn't engage to optimize max power or torque depending on the driving.

Another hint : if not done yet, go get a look on www.mobile.de, #1 turbo S for sale with a load of nice pics !

Hi Laurent, Welcome.

I think we should have a 968 meet and fun run in Belgium. All US 968forum members are required to attend and ship their cars for the event.

Hi Roland,

Thanks for the welcome!
I was wondering whether there were any belgian owners out there...

A belgian meeting would be a nice idea. Of course, all US owners HAVE TO BE THERE !
(Hey US guys, free stickers !!!! )

Being serious...

We could schedule something.
Everyone welcome !
Just mail if interested (I'm pretty sure you are)

Hi Laurent,

I was not very accurate in my message. I am not in Belgium, although there are many 968forum members who are in Belgium or the Netherlands. I am in the US (California), and I was only making a joke and a wish. I have been in Brussels a few times and we just loved Belgium. It is beautiful.

I cannot recall how to find it, but somewhere here on the forum is a map that shows where the members are located. Please try to find it and you can link up with the others 968-ers who are nearby.

OK...

Your profile in your first post didn't show your location. (C'mon guys, tech issues w/ site? )
But your our ride still looks great !
And, anyway, you're welcome for a little "tour" of Belgium !

Laurent
