Hi from a new member and new Porsche owner
#1

I live in Irvine, California.

Bought the car, a 1992 968 cabriolet with 49K, 6-speed, three weeks ago, my first Porsche. The car is white with blue interior and top. It is all stock and all original. It looks new, some of my friends say it still smell new too, but not really.

It does, however, have a noisy transaxle. Fortunately, I got hold of Chris Cervelli (yes, the famous Chris Cervelli), who, in his semi-retirement, is kind enough to take care of this issue for me, next month, in May 2012. I can't wait.

I have been a long term Saab owner, the Saab Saab, not GM Saab. I do most of work on them and keep them all (I had 5 as recently as last year) cross-country ready. I have only 3 Saab's at the moment, after all, I am retired and single, can't use all that many cars.

I also have a 1966 Jaguar 3.8 S, my week-end car. The mechanics of the car were completely rebuilt in 1988 by XK's Unlimited, one of the best Jaguar shops in the West Coast. The car has been driven only 5K after this 24-year old rebuilt. It purrs, like a cat would, a big cat in this case. It was repainted at that time too, the paint is still fresh. I was lucky in locating such a car.

Back to the 968, driving it has been enormously satisfying. I just love how it corners.

Also, I look forward to continue my DIY habit, with the help of this Forum.

I don't have any projects on it in mind at the moment. Going through this Forum will no doubt get me thinking.

Welcome. Sounds like your are one of the few pinion bearing cars left Sad little mistake on Porsches part. Other car is a lovely MK II that Inspector Morse drives; my dad had the same car but I was 6 at the time. Ahh, the good old days
