Greetings from Western Mass
#1

My name is Ken, I came upon this site from another 968 owner who recommended it.

I currently reside in Wilbraham MA and do not currently own a 968.

About 15 years ago I purchase a black 1984 Porsche 944 Turbo with the two tone (black & cashmere) interior and absolutely loved it! I was the 2nd owner and the original owner cared for it like a rare jewel. Unfortunately, after about 2 blissful years of ownership I was rear ended by a car driving at about 40 mph while I was at a complete stand still (guess she wasn't paying attention). They nearly totaled it and in hind site I wish they had. It was never the same after that. While driving he hatch would randomly pop up for no reason and from time to time I would smell gas after a fill up. Not to mention the paint was no longer original factory quality. The paint is just one of the things I appreciate Porsche for. So within a year after the accident I sold it.

Now, these many years later, I find I am in a position where I can invest in another Porsche and am currently looking at the 968 and the Boxster. I'm drawn to the 968 because it reminds me so much of the 944T that I so loved. To be upfront, I have not test drove either one as I only just realized that it was time to get back into the Porsche fold. So like any investment I make there is lots of research, comparison shopping, and knowledge to be acquired before taking the plunge. And what other place to do part of that but a web site dedicated to the topic.

I look forward to being an active member here and learning whatever anyone cares to share. I am very excited with the prospect of once again owning one of these awesome machines.

Just remember it's 968 and not 986 and you'll be fine!

Welcome, I'm in Lexington MA. After having driven both the 968 and an 07 Boxster S back to back a few times...I would take the 968 every time. It's a much more enticing car to drive...

They're hanging in there, closed a few stores and hopefully will pull through. They just need to focus on what they use to do best and that's ice cream and burgers, lol.

Thanks for the welcome and feedback. As I imagine the 968 handles very much like my 944T I am very interested to experience a Boxster for myself. I look forward to comparing notes when I do =)

I'm in CT, although along the shore. If you are in the area and want to talk 968s stop by.
