Government Shutdown
#21

in absence of another and better answer, this is what we've got. it's better than what was. at least now my guys have insurance, as well as many people with pre-existing conditions, who could not get it before.

part time is the way of the future. that has been going on long before obamacare. heck, even home depot went all part time over a decade ago. we will no longer see companies providing benefits. that's a thing of the past, like the mom and pop stores, now that we are in a world of internet businesses, and facebook friends, and where price is everything to the consumer. we need to let go of the idea that we can ever go back. people need to find ways to get their own coverage, and/or the government needs to provide basic care. it's just the way it is.

Deductibles and oop's such as you mentioned Flash need to be meet before dollar one of insurance is applied. I'm not sure which bracket you refer to but that's a lot of coin for anyone to come up with in addition to the premium. I agree with the lack of alternatives but I suspect that is because civil discourse is non existent in politics. We offer our employees the creme de pa creme of blue cross indemnity policies. Family policy costs us 32,000. In 2018 we will have a 40percent tax levied on us for offering this type of policy. This policy is available to all levels of employees. We essentially self insure. This day is over. Premiums have become unsustainable. Just imagine how many employers are in the same boat. Paying the fine is cheaper than one months premium and can immediately put a huge amount to the bottom line. Imagine if you were a stockholder in a Fortune 500 company and they were wasting my money on health insurance when they didn't have to. I'm just a poor smow who lives in the mountains on a dirt road. Think all them thar fancy Harvard credentialed types ain't thought bout that. A tidal wave is a coming. Stock yer boat!

no - the number i put up there is the deductibles AND the max co-pay. the deductible is much lower. by the way, i was puling an example of the stuff from the silver level. preiums are lower with bronze, but deductibles and co-pays are higher. visa versa with gold and platinum levels.

it's a somewhat complicated thing to sort out (thanks again to the republicans who just HAD to add 1500 of the 2409 pages to the original bill, which was only 906 pages). hopefully people will actually start to read the stuff, and not rely on the biased media, who just love to hype things up to sell commercials. i am stunned at how few people actually know anything about the law, but continue to spout off about it, with rigid opinion. i'm not singling out anybody, but rather pointing out something that seems to be rampant.

for those who haven't read it yet, here it is:

Can you give me the source for the Republican added 1500 pages? I'd like to read that.

the original bill submitted was only 906 pages. you can dig that up. the republicans forced the additional pages. they were the only ones who wanted to change anything in the bill. the dems were fine with it as submitted.

So the Democrats introduced the "perfect" bill and the Republicans mucked it up. LOL

Changes are part of the legislative process, especially for legislation that affects all Americans.

lol - ok - that's funny

no - as i said, by no means do i think it's anywhere near perfect. i merely said it's better than what we had. but, did it really need to have so much thrown at it that it becomes all but impossible to deal with? was the republican goal really to create a functional health care plan, or just to hamstring the democratic plan? that is the real problem. it's way too much "us versus them" and not about actually doing the job.

the same thing goes for the current conflict
