Glove Box Repair instructions
#1

Has your Glove box arms given up? Well here is a complete how to DIY manual on repairing your glove box without purchasing a GB repair kit. Ron did the fabrication with standard tools and materials which most owners already have in their garages.

Thanks Ron!

i need to make this part, but my original glove box arms are totally missing to begin with. does someone have the arms that they could trace and post/mail to me? i don't think i can just free hand that shape and have it work.

thanks much!

If you don't want to make your own, Paragon sells steel replacement glove box door checks. They work great.

I third the template request. It would be great in a PDF, then we could just print it out and it would be the right size.

thanks for the link, dave. you never cease to be able to find things.

maybe in a few years, i'll know my car one-tenth as well as you do. that would be great.

i'm not sure it's worth the effort to save $39, but if someone could post a tracing, it sure would be appreciated.

Template attached. It is really just a scan of my steel replacement. Ignore the gray shadow and just cut to the black. If you plot full scale, it should come out OK. Check your plot against the scale I scanned with the check.

The T shaped part goes under the mousehair lining and the hook goes into the slot in the instrument panel.

Thanks for the plans! They worked perfect!

I did a variation on your theme, I used maple wood instead of metal.

Now I have a REAL classic!! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
