At >100 MPH and my ass <7" to the pavement, I want a performance tire...not nessacerrily a quiet tire.

Tire sizes on stock 17" wheels F: 235/40/17 R:265/40/17 Toyo T1S, I can only speak to their noise level at brand new, fairly quiet, not as quiet as my Michelin Pilots were.....and mine were the A/S. Twice the stick thou. IMHO.

yeah, I agree. the dbS2s are perfect on my MBZ ( in fact I don't think I'll ever buy any other tire for that car ), but it would be a crime to put them on the 968.

that's why I think the PS2 will do the trick- comes fairly close in comfort but provides the ultra high performance features our cars need.



just that smaller width that bugs me now...

if this is on F 7.5 / 65 and R 9 / 55 17s, then I'm also going to bump up one size from the 225 45 and 255 40 I have now. No drawbacks on that size at all ?

i have he 750s on the bmw and love them - the S050 is another option too - the michelins are probably the quitest tire out there, but you do suffer the aesthetic loss of the narrower tire



tough choices - get a cab? turn up the stereo?

that's why I was going to move up a size in tires so they look fatter, or at least equivalent to what I have now but I found out the PS2 is not available in the

235 40 17 and 165 40 17. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Here is another one for you. One of the latest OEM spec tires was the Continental Sport Contact II N2. Porsche had these tires manufactured specifically to their standards. I had them as my last set and they stuck like glue and I believe they were quiet too, although I really am not that tire noise sensitive.

The Yoko ES 100 have less grip , at least on the fronts, than the Contis', giving some understeer that I never had previously. The rear Contis' also wore out in about 9000 miles, white the fronts were still at least 1/2 tread. but you know how my city is laid out. Straight grid streets with 90 degree corners at intersections. Lots straight stop and go and few turns.



Yokos are a good value for someone with a mortgage and 3 mouths to feed (two dogs and guinea pig <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> ) They stick good enough for me.

I am pretty new here but the 968 I ust bought has those Yoko's on it and they are a little worn but they grip the road for sure. They are not super expensive, which makes them well worth the $$

Dave, maybe it's because as you stated before, the Yokos are a bit narrower than your old Contis so they are easier to push out in a turn. I'm running 235s in the front and don't feel significant understeer. Before I had wild power oversteer trying to get out of a corner, and now with the 275 Yokos in the rear, it just sticks much better.

I have a friend who collects Corvettes. He says that in testing the newest 'vette it was found tha they could pick up 2mph on top end by going to a narrower tire. I'm not sure the narrow tires help your overall traction though.

looks like the tire rack does have the PS2 now in 235 45 17 and 265 40 17.

So if there is no concern whatsoever fitting these on 7.5/65 and 9/55 , no speedometer delta, no compromise in top end speed or acceleration, I think

had the PS2s put on this morning. regretfully, not the "night and day" difference I would have expected [<img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />] <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> , but the ride is a bit softer, they grip incredibly well, and while the noise level may be 20%-30% down from my previous Yokos that only means when these wear to the point where the Yokos are now, they'll be just as loud.
