FS: Nakamichi CD-500 Head Unit
#1

As per selling my car I have also decided to put the stock stereo back in the car. Everyone that has looked at my car wants a driver and the stock stereo seems fine to almost everyone so I going to sell the parts im not going to keep.

Nakamichi CD-500 Head Unit - Top of the line premium head unit that also has one of, if not the most OEM looks available. Anyone that knows anything about sound knows that Nakamichi makes some of the most clear sounding, best quality products available. The early 2003/4 CD-500's suffered from several play issues, mainly from what appeared to be its 24 bit processing. I purchased mine second hand, but was a post recall CD-500. It was purchased locally in Maryland and not via the internet. A few features - CD, MP3, WMA, and ability to attach to the entire Nakamichi sound line. The best feature is the 24-bit D/A coverter. There are very few that are this detailed when it comes to sound, as most are 1 bit D/A coverters. This might mean nothing to most, but the second you plug in this head unit you can clearly hear the difference...every part of the track is more pronounced. Looking for $400 obo shipped. Pictures will be posted tomorrow.

Thanks for the stock photo...I have yet to figure out how I am save pictures from flash websites with Mozilla. Anyways, as far as I know there are no provisions for IPod. One of the things I really liked about this player is that its all balls, no Sirius, XM, IPod, etc... Just plays the best music bar none. I was told by many professional audiophiles to purchase this over the McIntosh MX-406 ($1200 retail) because it sounded better. Have not heard the McIntosh, but the sound is amazing.
