Are you from out of town? I'm a member of the NY Metro region, and there a lot of mechanics on Long Island...RPM being one of them.

My mechanic is in Westchester, and there is another excellent one in NJ also.

I guess I want to know why you are asking for a LI mechanic?

I'm live on Long Island and was wondering if there were any private shops that had specific experience with 968's. I know RPM a bit and it sounds like they have some experience with them, do you know of others?

I've been using SM Motorsports in New Hyde Park. He specializes in Porsche and has a background in 944s. He's also a Metro Porsche approved inspector. Ask for Sonny. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

German Auto Repair Technicians in Amityville

talk to Ken at 631-789-2426

I'm being told he's one of the best, independent garages on LI.

Also known as ' the water pumper guru'

i didnt have the same experiance with Porsche Spoken. i was looking at a 968 project car for a friend of mine (being sold by porsche spoken). i was told the car has ZERO issues mechanically. When i went to check the car out and take it for a test drive, smoke started coming in through the dash vents...and i was told "it's normal because the car has been sitting, everything is perfect". The shift knob had a ton of vibration (again told it was normal, and everything is perfect). Essentially i wasted my time going to check out a car which was "perfect" according to them.

Maybe they are really great mechanics/technicians, And they were just trying to make some money on a sale. But my experiance with them...was not the best.

In any event. My Tech is in Yonkers. He's been workign on porsches for over 30 years and my 968 is his 3rd. Prior to my car ghe has built 2 Turbo charged 968's.

Fox944,

You should come up to the 'Dyno Day' we're having at Paddock Performance in Haverstraw. I think we're doing it August 11th. They have a Mustang Dynometer we will be using...3 pulls per car.

Paddock is located just over the Tappan Zee in Haverstraw...It looks like we'll have at least 6 968's there, plus an assortment of 944's, too!

I'll be providing the sausage...We're working on a new product, so I need everybody to be my guinea pigs!

Paddock has been supporting my car for about 1 year now. Their phone number is 845: 429-4115

That's great!

If you can, there is another thread which began on Rennlist (sorry everybody!) that is gathering up all the cars which want to have a dyno pull at Paddock.

Go to the Rennlist 968 board and find the thread titled 'Dyno Day'...You will then be able to set it up and make arrangements.

Hope to see you there,

Jason

Why did it have to be THIS Saturday! Hah. I live 20 minutes from the tappen zee, but sadly i'm going on vacation this Saturday. Oh well, maybe there will be another time we can all meet up , but a dyno would just be too cool. Goodluck anyways.
