Ferrari dashboard arrangement ?!
#1

I was reading an article about a 1964 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso which recently sold ( at a price just slightly above my discretionary car budget, lol..) and looking at the photos I can't figure out what they were thinking when designing the instrument panel arrangement - see picture below. WTF, the speedometer and the tachometer are located more into the passenger side of the dashboard than the driver's line of vision, seems as if you'd end up with a crooked neck driving the car with your head tilted to the right, lol.

nah - in a ferrari you just listen to the engine to know the revs, and who cares about how fast you are going? all you're really worried about is keeping the engine from costing a ton of money, and all the gauges for that are right in front of you.

lol, those were my initial thoughts as well. but now I'm taking back everything I said about misplacement of the speedo and tach gauges; as soon as I got in the 968 this morning I looked at where those gauges would be in our car - where the air vents are located - and once you're sitting down and look at the dashboard you realize that's actually a better spot for them, and easier to see with just a quick effortless glance, than the gauges centered and behind the steering wheel. ! sorry Giuseppe, I doubted your design brilliance.. mea culpa <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> .

A 250 GTO just sold at auction for $ 34,650,000. The auctioneers expressed some disappointment with that price because the last GTO sold prior to this one ( at a 2013 auction ) went for $ 52 million . But they did say this particular car has had one accident and that one person ( not sure if it was the driver or the passenger ) was killed in that event so the negative history must have been the factor that decreased the value that much.

Btw, how friggin' wealthy do you have to be to spend $ 52 million for a single car ?!!
