Feeler: Value of a used Durametric only used on one VIN

I probably will have another Porsche someday so not sure if I should keep it or sell it. Don't remember what I paid for it. What are these selling for these days?

in the past, durametric would grant a one time reset so that you will again have 3 VIN capability. if you haven't done it already, you could contact them and see if you could do that. i did it with the one i sold.

Reviving this thread as I might have an opportunity to purchase a used Durametric enthusiast edition for just under USD$200.    It only has one VIN slot left open at this point.     I'm on the market for a 968, my current Porsche (which will remain my daily driver) is a 2016 Cayenne S and I have a separate code reader for that vehicle.    Can't imagine (at this point) needing more than that one VIN slot.

 

So - my questions :

 

  1. For anyone who has a durametric they use with a 968, what all can it do besides the basic error code reading and resetting of lights (airbag, other maintenance)?   Does the DME (engine computer) in the 968 provide any more detailed information via durametric?
  2. Has anyone recently been able to have durametric "grant a one time reset" as flash mentioned back in 2014, especially if you were NOT the original owner?

1) Durametric rocks. You can read and record all DME sensor data, in real time. It is invaluable and much more useful than the Bosch Hammer equivalent. You can also get alarm data.

 

2) I just got off the phone with Durametric - they will do a one-time reset over the phone for free, they just need a screenshot of the VIN page to do it. Subsequent resets are $150. As a Durametric owner, this is actually very useful info Smile

Thanks for the feedback.   Upon further inspection I found the one I was looking at did NOT have the round adapter needed for the 968, and from what I see on their site, they don't sell just the adapter separately.

 

Also found out a 968 i'm considering as the airbag light on.    If I wind up with that one, think that'll be a good excuse to get a new durametric.   :-)

Dont think there is anything special about the adapter, I bought a $14 one of the bay of fleas and that works fine with my Durametric


But my software is really old but I dont see what difference that would make as the chip is in the OBDII lead, the pin outs are all the same regardless of version

"bay of fleas" = haha - I like it.

 

Happen to have the link to the adapter cable you ordered?   ..or does anyone know a keyword I could search on for the adapter cable (ie, what IS the round diagnostic connector for a 968 called) - durametric simply calls it the "adapter cable" and searching on OBD2 adapter pops up way too many results to be useful (especially when I'm not 100% sure on what I'm looking for).
