Setting the clock?
#1

Well, I just picked up my '95 Coupe yesterday and drove it 500 miles home. I am super impressed with the car. I will post pics soon. My question is how to set the clock? I don't have the manual and downloaded the one on this site. However, it doesn't give much of a description on adjusting it. I see a tiny button in the lower right corner of the clock and have pushed it quickly, held it down, touched it lightly and also almost poked it out of the dash. Nothing seems to work. Somebody please help me because it's driving me crazy!

Thank you,

Travis

Travis, you've found the right button. A narrow tool like a punch works best. Press until it begins to advance and/or hold longer for a more rapid pace.

Obviously you need power to the clock as well. Is it changing time or frozen. The latter could be a fuse.

It is changing time but I'm not sure if the button is simply jammed from age? I tried a skinny allen wrench and it definitely goes in the hole. However, I have pushed it in hard enough that my finger really hurts. I imagine it can't be that much pressure to change it. Does the key have to be in a certain position? I tried it while I was driving and again when the key was off. Does it need a new clock? Like I said, it works, just doesn't adjust time.

Thanks for the quick reply and any other advice!

Got it! I tried it again knowing that this was the right button. I guess it's just finicky...

Thanks for the help!

Congratulations!!!!!

I suspect that the contacts become somewhat corroded due to lack of use, although I do reset mine more often than I like do to dead battery issues. (See my whining in another thread.)

I've been tempted to spray a little contact cleaner in there but don't know if it will ever reach the contacts.

Ejoy the lovely car.

light pressure will get the contacts to contact....it's only a thin black plastic pin with a tab on the inside. someone else might have pushed too hard. comes apart easily for cleaning. don;t use anything but clock cleaner or contact cleaner as everything else is too viscous and will slow it down if it gets on the gears.

I keep a paperclip in the ashtray for just such events. I find that the clock loses a minute or so every few months.
