I was planning on heading over to Dallas on Friday to have the Amp repair shop take one more crack at my Vox Guitar amp (it has been in the shop more lately then I have been playing it...). I could swing by and check it out. I think that you should have a PPI done as you need to determine if it has the dreaded Pinion Bearing issue. They really do not account for mechanical condition in the ebay ad.

hey, thanks.. truly appreciated, but I'm having second thoughts now about this one - as a second 968, particularly since I intend to keep that one pure stock I may want to continue searching for a pristine / concours quality M030 and also one closer to my preferred color scheme. I realize that will greatly reduce the chances of finding one, but oh well, I don't want to regret rushing into buying this now and then a year later the "perfect" 968 comes up for sale ..



the plan was actually to buy this and change the interior color, but I found out yesterday ( from the same shop where I changed the interior on my 944... around 23 years ago <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> ) that the current cost of doing the same thing would not make much sense.



yeah, the pinion issue is not a major concern ( if I'm looking at the ideal car I really, really want ) however, on this one in Dallas, it would definitely enter into the consideration of how much I'd be willing to pay for it..



Btw, I had the pinion problem on mine, so closely familiar with the matter <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Good choice Dan. You never know when the "right" one will pop up. Just be ready to move on it when it does. I spent a few weeks of time jockeying cars around in my driveway so I could accommodate the right one until my other one sold.



Can't hurt to start looking into the registries to try and proactively locate the right one...

I am actually planning to change the interior seats, door panels trim, etc.. to either 1) wine color factory leather Aston Martin or BMWs ,

or 2) the rust color factory leather for Porsche



Other than the primary reason which is that I find those colors to be the most appealing in an interior, I think the combo of a slate grey or black 968 with a rust or a wine color interior ( essentially a two-tone because of the black carpet, dash, window sill trim, etc ) would be jaw-dropping.

My iris blue is just a bit too bright to change the interior to that, or I would have done it already . besides I love classic grey ( not the light grey though )

you should post specs on the car, like mileage - i know for example that dan is looking for an extremely low miles showroom car to mothball until he burns his up - others would want the same kind of info - from your ad there is no telling what the car is like

lol - i sure wish people would read the stuff at the top of the classifieds - it's right there in each ad



it is a classified ad, and not a thread - you must reply to the seller directly - replies are not allowed in the ad itself - this is to prevent the dilution of the ad with comments about what somebody thinks is right or wrong with the item, which was negatively affecting the ability of people to sell things

exactly the criteria and the purpose I have in mind !





of course if something just slightly off / close enough to that might be out there, I could be missing out on a nice opportunity so will definitely look into

rob's 968 and a couple of others I just learned about recently, whose owners may consider selling..
