Donation Link is open
#1

Hi Folks,

In the last year, since Kim and I took controlling ownership of this site, the Donation button has been turned off. It took some time for us to perfect control of the domain names, web service, etc. So, you have been soaking up all this knowledge and camaraderie for free.

In any event, there are some bills that are coming due and it's time to request that you open your wallets and help keep this site running.

     - If you have learned anything about the care and maintenance of the 968, please donate

     - If you have saved any money by using this site as a resource, please donate

     - If you have enjoyed an event that was advertised on this site, please donate

     - If you enjoy the witty repartee' of the owners and other members, please donate

     - If you think that this is a storehouse of knowledge that needs to be preserved for future generations of owners, please donate

No swag at this time, just our enduring gratitude for your ongoing support. (I will elevate your status per the donation page levels).

Thanks for all your friendship and support !

Dan, I'd prefer Kim's repartee.

Just kidding, you both are at least amusing, if not useful :-)

Donation to follow. Thanks for keeping the site going, guys!

Ok, fine...there's room for two I suppose, so I'll share that responsibility ... Kidding aside, I don't think there are any members here who have not benefited from at least one , if not most of the categories listed in the original post, so donating to help keep the site going at peak efficiency and for preservation sake, is the honorable thing to do .

Thank you to both of you gentlemen for your generous donations.

There are several others, not sure if acknowledging the donations publicly is the correct thing to do or not. But, if you have donated, I have thanked each of you privately and raised your levels appropriately.

Regards,

Jay

Agreed, acknowledging donations publicly is not is the ideal thing to do, that's indirectly throwing guilt in the direction of others who have not donated ;-) :-)

At the risk of sounding like a know it all, which I can assure you I am not, the concerns regarding donations and acknowledgment are not correct. Gentleman, and I use that term loosely, having none of you ever donated money to any organization? Say it ain’t so. Acknowledging donors is a concept used in fundraising campaigns. Come on now boys, who among you doesn’t enjoy, hope for or anticipate with fervor that pat on the head with a grateful thank you. Please tell me I’m not the only one who does.

Since everyone’s financial circumstances are different, what I often do when I contribute to whatever solicitation catches my eye is simply give what I’m comfortable with. You don’t need to follow the guidelines that organizations suggest, including the forum.

Consider this, Ds will give you a personal pat on the head to thank you for contributing. He is such a nice guy and likes doing this!

There is a way to tell donors, there is a visible "tag" associated with the screen name. For example, non-donors have the tag "cheapskate" lol

But, with the many generous members, Jay would be forever posting thanks here. And Melva thinks he should have a life instead.

Just a quick note to thank all of you who made a donation. Since we don't have any membership fees your support is needed and appreciated to keep things running.
