Don't do U-turns
#1

Person in front of me pulled off the road.  I moved to the left to go around.  She then tried a U-turn. I simply had no place to go.  Tore off her bumper and rad.  If she had gotten a bit further out and more square to my Cayenne I would have hit her door with consequences to her.

Bugtussle is a fun place.

Yes, glad no one was hurt but still sorry to see nice cars damaged. Bozos at the wheel everywhere ..it's unfortunate you not only have to pay attention to what you're doing and what others are doing, but also expect the unexpected or, in some cases even what we would consider to be "unthinkable" My son's girlfriend was slightly injured and her car totaled last Friday by someone who did something similar to what happened to you ; not a u-turn, but half of one - he changed his mind after being half-way into a right turn on a side street and suddenly swerved back, very fast , into the main thoroughfare street, without noticing the cars next to him and hit three of them, hers the hardest, Her car's airbags deployed so she has bruises and general soreness as a result, but otherwise ok. And while speaking of the unexpected and unthinkable, many, many years ago , the car in front of me driving very slowly signaled a right turn, so I moved over to the left lane to pass him when he suddenly turned left right in front of me. Luckily I had enough time to slam on my brakes and stopped inches from broadsiding his car. He got out ( a man in what I'd guess was easily his mid 80s ) looking both puzzled ..and annoyed ! I asked him what he was doing turning left when he was signaling to go right . I swear to you what you're going to read next is the absolute truth, and not even paraphrased because I remember his exact words ; He said : " - I was signaling FOR YOU TO GO TO MY RIGHT because I had to go to the left lane ". And he said this with great conviction and a lecturing tone in his voice. He was not drunk , he did not appear crazy , but clearly left me dazed and confused ... How can anyone expect THAT to happen ? And yet it does , so keep as large of a practical distance from other cars in proximity, because you never know what anyone suddenly decides to do .

Kim, at least your car is repairable, hopefully she has good insurance. In my story not only did she total my 911sc but she had no insurance, and she drove off leaving me in the ditch.

I generally try to treat every driver around me as though they are trying to murder me...of course, I live near the NJ border so that's not far-fetched.
