Has anyone come across a 1:18 scale model of the 968? I've seen the 1:24 Minichamp cab and CS models available, but looking for something larger (even if I have to put it together myself).

in plastic, yes - hasegawa makes one - i have one (yet to be assembled) - so far, i think they only make the hardtop version though

I also want a 1:18 scale 968 but only in diecast, not a plastic model ( I'm not really interested in anything small like the 1:43 scale ). There are a couple of places which will custom make any car for you in a 1:18 diecast ( or any other size for that matter ) and the least expensive one I was able to identify offers a minimum order of 12 units, with a $ 100 flat start-up fee for the entire production, and then $ 80 per unit cost. The problem is that they will be either all coupes or all cabs, and all in the same color. So if we have 12 members on this forum who can agree on the body type and the color, there is some hope.. I for one would be primarily interested in a Coupe in Iris blue or Midnight blue, but might consider Speed yellow or Polar silver if need be ). While I do like many other colors "live" ( Slate grey, Wimbledon green, Horizon blue, ) I don't think as a display on a desk those other colors would be as suitable to me as the firts choices I mentioned.

I could be interested...I haven't heard of anyone who would do custom die-casts...it seems like it would be a lot more expensive than that to create the molds, and would they need a starting piece like a 1/18 944 to build each model from?

I collect 1:18 diecast models (my wife hates it).



We were recently asked by Classiccarlectables (see www.classiccarlectables.com.au) what models we would like to see made. I put down just about every 968 variation I could think of (968, 968CS, 968 Sport, 968 Convertable, 968 Turbo, 968 Turbo RS). Perhaps if everyone emailed them, they might have enough for a run. These guys do runs of Australian cars - so there is a much lower volume. The other distributor over here (Biante) has just started doing some very low volume resin 1:18 models of modern Australian muscle cars - so that could be another option.

It would be great to have a 1:18 version of the 968 for my collection - I am definitely in.



I recommend a diecast model be made of the first 968 Turbo RS that was made by Porsche AG. It is definitely a classic that I would love to own. The real one is in North Carolina and the owner passed away in November of last year. The family has decided to keep the car in their Porsche collection.



I recently had a 1:43 Starter model of the first Turbo RS professionally made and would provide extensive photos to any firm that wanted to build a 1:18 scale model for us.



Three issues to be resolved:

- Would enough people on this website be interested in buying a 1:18 diecast of the first 968 Turbo RS made?

- Which company would be interested in producing this diecast?

- Can they use the photos (original car from Porsche AG and/or mine of the 1:43 model), the actual 1:43 Starter model or would they need to see the real car (it has been extensively modified and all the original decals are gone) in NC?

The Turbo RS would be perfectly ok with me. ( though preferably in the other color.. however, if the majority goes with red, I'll go along with that as well ) But since it does not appear the company I contacted even cares to reply to my inqury, the answers to the last two of your questions will pose the biggest challenge, as I don't think there will be a problem generating enough interest here in the Turbo RS unless the minimum production criteria for any given company is 50 cars or more..
