DANMAR MaxJax
#1

Finished the install at midnight last night and just had to "test" it out. Truth be told... I first tested it with the SAAB and then the 968!

The installation instructions are VERY good, but I skipped a step... forgot to grease the inside of the posts BEFORE installing them, so I need to do that tonight yet. That way the blocks inside the lift columns will be nice and QUIET! As a result, I did NOT test it to the MAX height as of yet. On a quick measurement, it looks like I will be able to make use of the full height this model offers.

The support arms just slide under the body, which I am happy about. Imagine the dissapointment if I would have to jack up the car a bit to get those support arms under!

Sent the picture to a couple of friends already, and two have requested more info on the lift, as they may be interested in one themselves. Hum... wonder if there is a "finders fee" for additional sales!

Next on my "to buy" list is a rolling work seat and an oil reservoir with an extendable neck. Oil changes will be "fun" from now on...

Way cool..I am starting to look at full size lifts as I will hopefully be building a new garage with a 14' ceiling. Is there a cut off so you don't smoosh that beautiful top?

Most I have seen have an auto cutoff that when the roof of the car hits it it stops.

Can you stand under it or sit only?

What a great thing for you to use what limited space you have. Awesome

At max height there is a stop on each post, which happens to be just a few inches shy of the overhead door! Trust me, I was VERY careful when I checked that out!

You cannot stand under it (unless a person is vertically challenged!). From this picture you will see that I have 46" from the ground to the underside of the 968. Tomorrow I will buy a rolling work seat.

With regards to the comment about "limited space"; this model of lift was made for this exact application. The manufacturer has several other models if you have more height and width available.

There are several height positions where a safety bar can be slid into each post, you then let the lift down carefully and the side arms rest on those bars.

Now I will be motivated to install my splitter, lower brace, do the brakes and brake lines, etc, etc...

Dave, I wondering how long it would take you to chime in!

Darlene got a new watch recently, so that is covered...

By the way, if you love RAMPS so much, I have a set that I would like to get rid of! Cheap!

I thought about going the MaxJax route before we decided we were going to build a new garage. Instead, we decided to build the garage plans around incorporating a lift. Now all we need to do is find a contractor who will do the work without trying to gouge us for an extra 30% based on the town we live in...

Yea, I saw the blue ramps in the picture. I could put them with my brown ones, line them up and take a run at getting all 4 wheels off the ground at once. Gotta feeling there's a disaster in there waiting to happen.

The rep at bendpak told stories of people driving off lifts when they are in the air. I didn't quite understand that one. My greatest fear is missing as I drive on to the ramp. Being somewhat compulsive, I often backup to more evenly place the car on the ramps. Dave where is your sense of adventure?

I had reused the old kitchen cabinets in the garage, but did not like the look.If you scroll to the first post, you will see them on the wall ahead of the 968 on the lift. I recently removed the old wooden doors and replaced them with some checkerplate aluminum ones that I had a guy at work fabricate. Took the measurements and had him cut the sheets to size, including a 1" J-bend as a full height handle. They are not all installed yet, but it will be a great improvement to make the space look better! The cost for me will be a steak sandwich and a beer for the fabricator.
