I don't claim to know much about fiberglass. Any exterior styling part I've ever ordered for previous cars has been plastic. So needing to prep before paint is a new concept to me. I got the Design 1 splitter in and looked it over. Didn't have much of an opnion on the as delivered state of the piece. I wanted to do D9 brake ducts and have them and the splitter painted at the same time. The D9 ducts took over 2 months to arrive. Luckily the car is on jack stands in my garage and there is 35 inches of snow in my yard. The ducts arrived last week. I am not kissing Flash's ass in any way shape or form here but the quality of the Splitter looks like an OEM part from Zuffenhausen compared to what I got from D9. It is very apparent to me that the splitter is a well built and finished piece. The ducts are not. There are deep gouges all over. I've been sanding them myself and now I've had to go out and get filler because I'm about to go through the gel coat. The edges are rough and very uneven and there was already a great deal of filler added to the piece that got sent to me. The tabs that hold it in place in the bumper cover are basically built up out of filler. I wish I had taken before photos but I got right to work. The ducts are primed but still need a few coats of filler primer before paint. The only good thing is the only parts of the duct that will be seen once installed are now smooth and finished. I had considered buying the RS rear spoiler from D9 but this has answered that one for me. AIR it is. I only hope that product is a little nicer than the D9. Flash - care to make a rear spoiler for coupes?
