Crank Seal Variation or Update?
#1

I just pulled the front of my engine to figure out where the brand new oil leak was from after starting my engine after a T-belt & crank seal change. O-ring aside, the crank seal that was in the car before (small leak) was 999-113-331-50 and orange and the replacement seal that the company sent me was 999-113-331-40, black, and leaks like heck. Offhand, does anyone know if the 999-113-331-40 is a replacement for the 999-113-331-50 or did they send me the wrong part? Visually, I can't tell the difference in size.

I had to go into the office at 4:30 am today and didn't get to start work on my car until 1 pm, so I'm a bit frazzled and getting a little cranky. Don't know whether to be upset with myself or the dealer.

I'll list my findings here when I find the answer.

According to the vendor, the differently numbered seal that the vendor sold me is just a updated replacement for the one that was in my car. Mystery solved. Can't be too careful! (I'm finding). Got a new one, O-ring, and new sleeve coming (in case I need the sleeve).
