Could we see a show of hands?
#1

I'm curious, and hope I'm not repeating a previous subject - didn't find it using search - how many current forum members are the original owners of your car? It might be neat to know and hear some short stories of what influenced you to purchase a 968 and your "relationship" with it over the years. Perhaps you weren't the original purchaser but it has been in your family since new. Anyone?

I'm the second owner of mine, but I bought it had only 21,000 miles on it and was barely two years old so the car was as new. The original owner had torn up the clutch and the rear tires were shot, but the car was otherwise in showroom condition with absolutely no other issues.

I bought mine in 2000 thanks to a windfall on a Biotech stock. The car had only 16,000 miles and was in Maplewood MN.

I drove it for 2 years as a daily driver and put 40K on it.

After a TB/BSB failure and $5K worth of repairs I retired the car to garage status.

Today, she has 78,000

I didn't do a poll, but I asked this same question awhile back, and no original owners turned up, although somebody mentioned that they know of one. They're as rare as hens' teeth...

OK, well I knew it was a stretch. Mine was purchased just over a year ago (09-17-09) from the original owner. He was a doctor and in my dealings with him I didn't find him to be a "car guy" or enthusiast. He was a doctor that had owned several pieces of German iron and I suppose got to the point (peer influence perhaps) that he thought he needed a Porsche. He did a good (not perfect) job of caring for it, but he handed me enough car to easily bring up the scale. I was just curious if someone like him (who was or had become an enthusiast) was among us.

I misunderstood the questions and clicked "fifth". I thought it meant how many Porsches have you owned. The real answer is I am the second owner of my 1994 Cab. The first owner being a rental company!? I'm still trying to figure that out since it only has <60K documented miles.

I'm the third or fourth owner. I do have the original owner's details in the manual. I thought about writing to him, just letting him know 'his' car is still on the road and going well.

I saw the car on craigslist at a very reasonable price. I purchased it from a retired service manager of a local dealership. He got the car on a trade and drove it with dealer plates for awhile. The carfax looked strange because of that but with some research I was able to get the scoop. Oddly enough when I was younger I had seen the car many times parked at that dealership and always wanted one..............

The car was only 3 years old when I got it, from what I thought was the original owner.

Strangely, there is a different name in the service book in the glove box.

I'm the third owner of the car, within the UK, car bought new in Singapore, and exported into UK in 1999. So I suppose I'm the 'forth' enthusiastic owner (and hopefully the last!.)

Might be wrong but I think that Don Hassenbein (Red Baron) is an original owner.
