Head Gasket
#1

Given the recent dire warnings regarding our head gaskets I wanted to get a feel for what folks are planning to do. So, if you've not had your gasket replaced already, are you planning to?

Had mine replaced last summer when it started leaking coolant. Ended up having the whole top end done. Valves, guides etc.
Boy she runs good now.

I did mine before a problem occurred, but did have a few ticking litters. I think the Mileage was 132k or so.

I'm kind of in between the top two selections. I imagine I will be doing mine in the 6 - 9 month timeframe, but not necessarily coinciding with a major service (unless you count a supercharger as a major service )

PorscheDude,

What did you do about the lifters, replace all or could you indentify which ones were bad. I think they are quite expensive?

I'm in that grey area. Will plan on it when I get my Round 2 SC kit. I have 128K kilometers at the present. The car goes like snot and doesn't burn a drop of oil so I feel I can wait until then. The bigger decision is when I do the head gasket do I do the valve/guides at the same time since I am partially through the life cycle of the top end already. I'll do a compression/leakdown but the answer is probably yes since the heads off anyway - more $$$.
Hard enought to hide a bottle of Single Malt from the wife let alone a SC and head refresh
