Color options for the 968
#1

Another thread was covering the color option black and it was mentioned that only 100 was delivered. Unfortunately it was not possible to respond to this thread. It can be very confusing to deal with the color options of 4 years of production. Let me give you an example. When I obtained my 968 almost 3 years ago I learned from the register that I had the only 1994 Cabriolet in a C2S Amethyst Metallic. " How could that be be" I said. When posting it here in the forum Flash replied " Oh no, I have worked on some in that color....This is when things get complicated. The F9 color was available on the 92-93 model but was discontinued on the 94-95 models.,,,,so yes you will see this color out there on early models........NOW things get more complicated....Some of the 93 models where re-vinned (code 718) to show up as 1994 models. This is why you can have this argument. It took me a while to straighten  this issue out.....There are only 2 (true NON 718) 1994 968's custom ordered in Amethyst Metallic ( early fall of 1993) One is a Coupe last residing in Florida and the other, a Cabriolet residing in Northern California.

I am sure we can have many other discussions about color rarity.

i posted a note, and moved the thread to correct the problem on the black cab thread.  please see that note for why people were having a problem

i wouldn't count on the registry info to be complete.  i have found cars that are not even listed.  i almost bought one that was not supposed to exist.  in retrospect, i should have.  it's the only one in that color that i have seen in the US.
