Pardon the potential hijack but about this blink test that us ROW 968 owners cannot do, is the function in a dormant state within the DME and hence can be activated or is it simply not there? If not, could a ROW car use a DME from a US car and as a result get the blink test feature? It would seem that the ROW and the US specs are the same in all DME related aspects and I for one would really like to be able do do this test from time to time.

No, if you snip the wire the airbag never trips the '!' light again. The cluster has no communication with the airbag module. You can drain the battery, pull the cluster, do whatever you want and you will not get the '!' light due to an airbag code.
What you also lose is the 'airbag' warning/test indication so you might fail state inspection, and your airbag system might develop other issues and you would never know (though not an issue if you have disconnected the pyrotechnics.)
My ultimate goal is to put a little fuse in this wire and get the system reset, then see how long I can go before the airbag warning gets tripped again. As I store my 968 during the winter months it might get tripped again soon, or it might not. If it gets tripped again I can pull the fuse until I can access to a Hammer again.
Having the 'airbag' and '!' lamps on all the time is annoying and also prevents the '!' from getting your attention if you overheat or something, so it is good to be able to disable the airbag warning on short notice. A little inline fuse seems like a good solution to that problem.

Quite sure. You clip the wire that the airbag module uses to indicate a fault to the cluster, and the cluster then is ignorant of the fault. The cluster works as if you had a non-airbag car. No airbag test indication, no airbag warning indication, and no "you're gonna die" light as a result of the airbag fault indication.
What you might be thinking of is when people have tried to pull the airbag warning lamp out of the cluster. If you do that, the '!' is not fooled and still lights.
Clipping the wire down by the airbag module under the glovebox (as suggested earlier in this thread) prevents the fault indication and thus no '!.'
My airbag fault code needs to be reset so I currently have this wire clipped. I am familiar with this procedure and the results. One of the 928 guys in Denver has a Hammer, I hope to drop by and reset my airbag fault one of these days and then install that little inline fuse in my clipped wire to re-enable my airbag warning. Then I will operate as stock until I get another airbag fault, then pull the fuse, lather rinse repeat.

I would like to cut this wire! Since I do not know what the airbag module looks like can somebody enlighten me (pics)? And please also tell me the color of the wire to for a ROW 1995 CS. Thanks!

A Club Sport should not have an airbag module, they came with the non airbag steering wheel as standard.

You could a CS with airbag, air, central lock etc. Especially the ones from '95 are more loaded than you'd excpect a CS to be. This is probably since the CS where cheaper than the regular coupe.
Mine's a CS from '95 and it is a true oddball in that it came with leather buckets instead of the typical CS seats (more like the in England available S) and also air, central lock, rh powerwindow and dual airbags and sunroff. Leather buckets are gone in favour of Sparcos's and the drivers side airbag's removed since the steering wheel's replaced. Sunroof is gone too since the car was crashed at some point in time and had the roof replaced. And yes, it is a CS, it has been verified through Porsche.
About my profile, I have tried to change it from '92 cab to '95 CS a couple of times but is says "error" and it doesn't go through (my bad most likely). Flash, if you feel like it, please change it for me (guessing you can since you're admin). Wish a had a cab too though.................

On my car it was easiest to find the bundle of four wires between T41 and the airbag controller and snip the white wire with the black stripe.
Also in that bundle are BK/RE, BK/WT, BR (Black w/red, Black w/white and Brown.)
Take a look under there, no need to remove the glovebox or anything.
This info is correct to my best understanding, and is worth what you paid for it. I'm not responsible if your airbags go off or don't and you get hurt or whatever.
Do not eat the silica gel.

Ok thanks. I'll have a look see and then verify that I am at the correct place on the wire diagram. About the !, will it clear once the fault is gone (or the airbag module is removed) or is the fault code stored and will have to be removed with the hammer?

In answering the last question. The fault code will not be cleaned from the memory. The big ! is still burning like hell. This because the faultcode is stored as binaire code in to the memory. Best solution is still the hammer in any case.
