Cabin filters
#1

Does anyone know if I can get the air intake piece, that hold the cabin filters (from the late model car), be retrofitted onto the early cars? Looking at the parts catalog, I see there os only one lower part. So can I replace the upper part with the late model one, so I can add the air filters?

Thanks

This may seem a little redneck for a P-ca but I just cut up a piece of washable filter material and stuck it to the grill on both sides of the intake with a piece of double sided tape. I also wanted the cabin filter but without the fuss of trying to change parts to 94+

to answer the first question, i'm pretty sure it can be done, but it isn not going to be a simple project, as the space is pretty tight in there

to dave, i have often thought of doing something similar - i just haven't gotten around to it yet

I recall reading that the filter mounts just snapped on in place of the grills but I have not tried it. I have, however, simply wired scraps of cut-to-fit washable furnace filter to the grills on a 944S2 to keep small leaves and whatnot out of the HVAC system. That worked fine.

I have read about fitting some furnace filter in there. I wouldn't mind some work and money to get the late model filter setup. Not a huge deal wither way. More that as I continue to improve and fix up my car, I would like to keep the pollen and dust levels inside the car down.

If you go that route don't forget to post the part numbers, $ and some pics. I would like to upgrade my filters to get the dust out as well, the current filter material just deals with sand and larger particles. I did it the easy way due to the 17 year crispiness of the black plastic shroud; I wasn't into breaking it and trying to find a replacement.
