One would think since they are so simple, a similar piece should be easy enough to make ( DIY job ) although I suspect the biggest problem is finding a block of rubber or another material ( maybe a very dense, firm foam ? ) which has has just the right amount of "give" to serve the intended purpose , without compromising the positioning / alignment of the hood .

Wonder what it would take to get a group buy/manufacture done...  Flash - any insights?

I think there would be a lot of demand for those (  after all this time I'd expect most are badly deteriorated by now  ) so the volume should be there for any shop who would be interested and capable of making a mold to produce and sell therm .

I bought 2 about 6 yrs ago because there was only one on the car.  Now I only have the original one left over.

Part # is 944 511 485 00

Has anyone tried DCAuto for used one?

I seem to remember ordering one from Sunset a year or two ago. They may be NLA from Porsche but stock may remain in dealer inventory.

Not the dealer in this city as every part is special order.

Very doubtful any dealers in the US have some stock left - my local dealer asked Porsche in Atlanta to do a nationwide dealer search in their main database , and there was not a single piece anywhere . That was several years ago. I then checked with many of the known Porsche salvage places , and finally found only one piece ...which I did buy.

$5 per. Call him directly and establish a relationship. He helped me out of a jam when I blew my engine last summer. He has seemed to have a couple of 968's around that he parts out.
