blue cab in Bay area
#1

Is anyone familiar with this cab? The dealer has had it for sale for quite a while. It just showed up on e-bay.

Thanks for any info

No info on the car itself, but I am familiar with the dealership - reputable, and 90% of their stock consisits of collector vehicles, all in top notch condition. I could swing by and look at the car if you want but won't be able to do that until more than a week from now ( Saturday the 16th would be the first day I can get there while they'rte open ..)

Many thanks, Dan

That would be great if you could swing by. That way, if it's worth pursuing, I would have time to get an in-depth PPI -- it's on ebay for 2 weeks.

Thanks again,

Paul L

I run the 968 registry. I have been collecting 968 production data since 1996 and have a complete database.

Is that online? I see various registries, but none ascribed to "Jeff"...

EDIT: Found it, but I don't think I'm on it?

If you like blue this is the cab. Looks to be in pretty good cosmetic shape.

Paul,

No problem, I'll see if there is any chance I can look at it even before next Sat ( this weekend I'm at the Paso Robles meet otherwise it would have been ideal ) but it may be tough because of my meetings schedule next week.. also, I don't have the eagle eye and knowledge of someone who can spot "hidden" trouble areas by just looking at various things but will do my best to at least give a close up review of the car, aesthetically..

If Trevor is around that weekend I'll see if he can slo join ( far greater technical knowledge and eye for details than I do..) - we went to that dealership about a year ago to gawk at some simply amazing cars..

Many thanks for the info, Jeff.

And thanks again for the volunteering, Dan. It looks god it pics. Don't all of us -- well, some of us.

Can't tell a thing about the paint, of course. If repaint, what's the quality. If original, is there anything left?

Looks like the interior has seen better days, -- door panels wobbly, carpeted speaker boxes dangling, possible rip on driver's bolster -- true?

Big aesthetic items - any cracks in the dash? all the photos show a yellowing of the carpeting, possibly some of the leather -- is this just the lovely, warm afternoon sun you guys enjoy?

Curb rash?

Other 100,000+ mile telltales?

Many thanks,

Paul L

Paul, I spoke too soon.. as it turns out I got away from work early today and stopped by on my way home to see the car.

Overall it looks decent - a few observations :

Original paint everywhere ( at least that I could detect under artificial light..) you can see the "orange peel" and most paint appears to be in very good shape, certainly for 100k+ miles.

However, there are several deep scratches on the rear quarter panel ( driver's side ), and those will definitely not buff out IMO. I think that panel will need repainting after they fix the grooves. Not sure if it was keyed or what, but they're

seriously deep and there is touch-up paint on them, but still..

Interior is decent overall, there is wear on the bolsters, and a small tear on the driver's seat boslter ( the door side one ) No dashboard cracks though..

The canvas top looks to be in GREAT shape, I'd say almost new..but the plastic window needs serious reconditioning.. I have no idea if the spots are easy to clean or not.

No curb rash on the wheels.

The front shocks appear to be Koni, they are adjustable tips on them, and the strut tower braces have Koni stickers on, so likely it's genuine

It has an aftermarket Catback ( I did not get the brand, it's not BB, or Magnaflow, or Borla.. and the sales guy did not know off hand but said it's all in the records of the car so he can give you the entire history and maintemnence records all the way from purchase date to today )

Engine bay looks ok for a car with 100K miles, no apparent leaks, but don't expect a showroom looking engine either..

They claim it runs really well, no leaks under the carriage whatsoever.

They have videos of the car if you're interested, just email them and they'll send them over..

Let's see... what did I miss.. no idea, probably a lot, but that was just the first look impression..
