ouch!

Sounds like this will be a nice little piece of insurance.
There is no cheap or easy fix for the firewall crack other than this little prevention.

no worries - they got delayed on a job - i should be picking up the pieces tomorrow and carting them off to the powder coater

My cracked firewall has also been repaired - but the brace could be the way of making sure it doesn't happen again. Of course, that means I'll have to replace my KLA strut tower brace, which I'd installed before a certain person got around to offering an alternative.

almost done writing the instructions - i'll finish those today - units are at the bender now - completion there on monday - then off to the powder coater - as soon as they get done there, off to RS Barn

instructions are done - should be picking them up from the bender this morning and dropping off to the powder coater

dropped them off at the powder coater today

they are in the instruction set - the area is WAY too small to adequately show pics here without starting up a whole thread - i may do that when it is ready though - or, i may leave it up to pete for his site - we'll talk about that today

just so you guys know, today i installed the production version of the bracket - it was no more fun for me than it will be for you, but it can be done - i think i dropped the washers and nuts at least a half dozen times, scratched the heck out of my hands, and rediscovered a familiarity with a number of four letter expletives

i apologize profusely in advance for the extremely tight space and HUGE pain in the butt it is to get everything in there

to give you an idea of how hard it was to figure this out, i went through a half dozen cardboard models, and then quite a few metal prototypes, just to figure out how to make a bracket that did the job, and could actually be installed - this thing kicked my butt

however, it's done and it works - this should save people from a VERY expensive repair that they don't even know that they will have to make until it is too late, and then there is no correcting the clutch issues that caused it - it should also prevent the failure altogether if installed before the problem begins
