Again I could use some help from you guys, who seem to know the 968 inside out!


Trying to figure out an issue that Im experiencing lately. When moving off from standstill, I'm getting sort of an engine stutter which I can't quite pinpoint what exactly is causing it. It appears like an engine misfire but cant be too sure about it. It produces a deep bassy flappy noise with some minor vibration and then goes away. No issues when driving/cruising. Only happens when moving off from standstill for about 2-3 seconds but it does not cause any drop in engine revs. This could happen when the engine is cold or after a spirited drive.


Has anyone had a similar experience before?

my guess though is a loose or cracked exhaust manifold

It's a tiptronic. Now that you mentioned, it does make sense that it could be the exhaust manifold. I had a very similar issue previously which was due to an exhaust leak. But back then it was a recurring issue and the symptoms a lot more pronouced.

because it is a tip, and i am hoping i am wrong, but if it isn't the manifold, it could be the flex damper, but you should feel some increasing over time clanking and clunking as you engage the drive shaft.

By flex damper i assume you are referring to the torque converter damper? That was just replaced with a new one just under a year ago. In any case the issue I'm experiencing is not so much of a clunking type noise, but more like an engine misfire. Sounds a bit like a massive fart, for lack of a better way to describe it.

by description it sounds like an exhaust thing.  fingers crossed.
