I dislike the clear rear lenses that are so popular...but I think clear front turn signals on the 968 would "blend" nicely with the fog/driving lenses.
Yellow lenses look better on dark colors imo. I'm not too keen on red, yellow and the like with yellow, clear is better. White cars however look really good with yellow. I agree with flash about yellow making the corners (ie shapes) stand out. My car, riviera blue, looks a little crappy with yellow but at the same time I don't wanna go down the ill fitting 993 route.
If it is the general opinion that bulbs and screws should be supplied then so be it. The stock lamp holder is used in this one as well (as it will be an exact copy of oem unit).
lol - which is one of the "added bonus" reasons i would like the amber fog lenses - same idea - different approach
i may end up doing something entirely different though- depends on how much more i want to dive into this car - i keep vacillating - seeing cars continually pop up that outperform ours does not help my decision (anybody else been looking at the new Z4 convertible lately?)
The new Z4 is very nice imo, I've driven it a bit and although it's a nice car and plenty fun it is nothing compared to a built 968 when talking about handling. A M-version on the other hand...
just went to look at it - didn't drive it - many shortcomings - may yet be a better choice than the M3 for us, but it hasn't grown on me enough yet, and certainly looked better in the pictures than in person
i must admit, i like the new Z4 (better then the previous Z4 as well as the Z3). I like the original Z1 even more.
I'm interested in a set too.!
we can start a Z4 thread, but i'd like to keep this focused on the clear lenses - obviously people want them, and i don't want to get in the way of somebody making them - my thoughts aside, if it's something that people want, and somebody wants to make it, as long as everybody knows what they are getting into, i see no reason to get in the way
so..........about them thar lenses..............
Let's see...why did this diverge to being a Z4 discussion? Oh, yes, I remember, it just Flashed through my mind.
Personally, I don't think we need a Z4 thread.
lol - ha ha - i don't think so either - every time i get frustrated with the 968 though, i start looking at alternatives
lenses - there are probably 20-30 sets of lenses to be sold total - i can't think there would be many more than that - it just isn't a priority, and i think most would opt for something else first
but good luck with it - there are certainly a few that want them
I'd buy a set if for no other reason but to ditch the crappy-fitting 993 set currently installed.
I am still trying to locate a set of smoked tail light lenses. Can anybody help me out???

This is exactly what I was thinking! I have seen so many 968s with the ill fitting 993 lenses. I think the market for the clear lenses are much bigger then the 20-30 sets Flash mentioned.
I'd be in for a set... Price being a consideration.
this market is funny - some things go immediately, but some take forever - some that seem like no brainers are almost ignored, and some that we think are limited interest take off like a shot
an example of inexpensive no brainer things that immediately make driving more fun, that you would think that everybody would get:
chip
short shifter
performance alignment
yet, of the 1000 or so cars that are members of this site, i'd guess tops 20% have any of the above, and far less have all of them
i always see a lot of "interest", but too often little follow through when it actually comes to ponying up cash
we'll see - never can tell where people will spend their money

2 things -
1- are the lenses that everybody buys to delete the front bumper warts 993 lenses? Are they really ill-fitting?
2 +1 on the smoky lenses. My friend has a boxter and just changed the rear lenses to smoky and they look way nicer.

you dont really need to buy smoked lenses. You can either smoke them yourself (there is paint made specifically for this, you just need to take apart the light and put it back together). Or you can have a professional apply light tint to the tails to smoke them (i actually considered this and will post pics if i ever do it). The good thing about tint, its reversable....so if you dont like it..you can always just remove it.
I'd be interested in a pair if the fit is good and the price is under $200 including the bulb and the screws.

I would love to have a set on the white coupe. I think it would finish it off nicely with all clear on the front and all red rear tail lights. Keep us posted.
