Well, the process of "rectification and beautification" of the Coupe has officially begun. Parts are beginning to trickle in and I'm assembling my project list. I have the deviating dark gray/light gray interior. The factory shift knob has been replaced with a short shift kit of unknown brand and I'd like to switch it back to the factory knob for cosmetic reasons and then plan to install the Design 1 Racing kit from RSBarn. For anyone reading this and not in the know about this kit, it retains the factory knob but shortens the throw and isn't as "notchy" as aftermarket short shift kits.
What color shift boot is correct...black or gray? Seems to me it should be gray. Anyone have a shot of their stock deviating interior to post up?

My deviating interior Black/Light Gray has a black shift boot.

Ah, now that actually makes sense...yes dark gray steering wheel in my case, but I think the boot only comes in light gray from most suppliers (I like the AGLA boots so I'll check with them on colors) , so it would match the center console trim and armrest cover which is light gray.

Just checked..AGLA has dark gray, gray beige, and linen...Linen looks correct but I think we just discovered in another thread that there is a difference between Linen and Light Gray...now which do I have in the '93??

looks like light grey to me - the linen i have seen is much "whiter"
Yup, match the steering wheel.
Could just be the pic, but it appears your center arm rest is linen while the center console is light gray.
That picture was taken a year ago when I had the car the first time to sell it on consignment. The seats were very dirty and the lower dash was in the shade sorta. My gut hunch is that the trim is light gray as well. Maybe the armrest cover is faded.

Go with black for the shift boot. Much more readily available and gray (either shade if available) will show dirt like a mo'-fo'...
that is the one downside of anything other than black - also, the classic grey seems to turn brown, which on a shift boot, constantly exposed to the sun, would probably happen quickly
IMO- The gray would look much better. actually I would like it in mine but in suede.
i've had suede knobs - they wear out and look really shiny and bad very fast
i like the look of grey with a grey wheel, but the upkeep is hard
which reminds me, i have some wear starting on my knob and need to replace it

i have a cab, so a metal knob is definitely out of the question - besides, the vibrations would make me crazy

You're welcome to my old knob once I get everything switched over. I'm pretty sure it is a Momo knob...just not sure what kind of short shift is installed. Take another look at the pic from previous posts...let me know if you want it.

Yup, my 951S had deviating black/linen and my shift boot was black, so in your case I think dark grey would be the correct choice.

I would vote for gray shift boot and gray arm rest would tie in with the rest of the interior while ilimiting the light gray to the accent color - on the practicality mode just change the arm rest to black, readily available and would look good. What ever you choose I would say match the shift boot and arm rest colors - My poor attempt at photo shopping my thoughts...
