I'm thinking about getting the "ultra mount" engine mounts from Lindsey. They seem to be something in between the OEM rubber cushions and a solid mount. However, this mount is not available for the tranny (only for the 944) and I would like to upgrade that mount too. Isn't the general "rule" that the tranny mount should be as stiff or stiffer than the engine mounts?
So, are there any other mount suppliers out there? I'd like to get a "kit" if available but I'd rather not have solid mounts up front (solid tranny mount is ok).

I'm also going through some kind of inner debate as to whether I should remove the balance shafts or not. There are advantages in keeping them in and there are advantages in taking them out. But will the vibes/noise become simply too severe without the OEM rubber mounts isolating the engine from the body?
i am currently in the middle of a motor mount design project, and should wrap it up now shortly - the lindsey mounts transmitted too much vibration for a street car - had them in for 5 minutes and yanked them right back out - when i removed them i also found a couple of design shortcomings that will be resolved in the new mounts

i had no plans at this time to do a tranny mount

unless you plan to completely re-weight the engine, and do all the math to counter the harmonics, removing the balance shafts is a HUGE mistake, especially if you go with a light flywheel - i've gone through this now twice, once with a DMF and once with a light flywheel - the results were ugly power loss in the latter case, as the engine was "fighting itself" due to the lack of balance - this might work in a 944, but the 3.0 does not like it
Were you using the solid mounts from Lindsey or the ultra mount?

Will yours be available through RSB and to what price?

Why not make a tranny mount too?
it was the ultra mount

yes - not sure yet about price - should be less than OEM though

just not interested in another project - i had already started the engine mont project and just need to finish and test one last part, so i'll finish it, but the OEM trans mount works well enough
