Hi
I'm looking at an 06 Audi A3 Quattro for a winter car. My mechanic is doing a prepurchase inspection on Tuesday. I was wondering if anyone had an open Autocheck or Carfax account and could run its VIN which is WAUKD78P56A110517?
Thanks
Steve
Sorry mine just expired Friday.
do they have an unlimited report plan? if so, how much is it?
Not sure, I bought the cheapest one they had. Was good for 5 VIN's and 30 days.
Got what i needed printed out.
1 month carfax subscription is about $30 as I recall. Well worth it if you are looking to spend $15K to $20K for a car. The PPI should turn up most of the mechanical stuff you care about, but its also good to know that the odo has not been tweaked or that there isn't a wreck in the past. In my experience, prices for cars on Autotrader et al that are too good to be true are usually sniffed out by the carfax service.
I'd expect some deals on pricing for Carfax to be coming. They have to be taking a huge hit now that Autocheck reports are free on all EBay car listings (which is really nice)...
Autocheck offers an unlimited number of reports for 60 days for $39.99. Carfax now offers 5 reports for $44.99 or a single one for $24.99. When I was looking for my 968 Carfax had unlimited reports for 30 days for around $30 but not any more. I usually used Autocheck because of more bang for the buck. Now there doesn't seem to be a contest.
