G'day 968 owners, I trust you are all well.  I've had my 968 for about 6 years, and having retired and finished the most important jobs on our house (except for tidying my workshop Huh ) I'm now able to turn my attention to my car.

I've worked on cars/bikes most of my adult life, including a 944S2 and a Boxster, and have just completed the 968 timing/balance/other belts and bearings overhaul, and changed the water pump and front hoses while I was in there.

So now I want to install cruise control. The frequently winding roads are wonderful to drive, but I do find CC restful for longer trips.  Anyway, back to CC ..... it is amazing how many fora instantly migrate from 968 questions to 944 answers.  So I'm hoping for better from this 968-specific community, and if I can pass on my experiences ......

Greetings one and all  Beer

Welcome,

You would find any migration from one model to another here, what's a 944 anyway?

Enjoy the site,

Jay

Welcome

All American 968 came with the loom for cruise,

My 92 coupe does not have the loom in the car, I do have all the parts ready to fit to add cruise, just need to get around to making the loom
Welcome!
Thank you for your welcome and responses; as I get more permissions I shall browse more threads and contribute where I can.

The 968 loom is an interesting one .... looking through Katalog the wiring looms and variants are shown, and there is no specific wiring loom variant shown for CC even though all the CC hardware is shown and itemised.

This would suggest there is no variant for CC and hence it is incorporated for all.

Under the dash behind the clutch on my 968 is the wiring and plug for the clutch release switch, why would that be there if it doesn't feed into a CC loom?

I have searched various fora and can find no definitive answer to this situation, and as mentioned, most diverge fairly rapidly to the 944 models.

I think I shall attempt to contact Porsche Stuttgart direct to see if they can shed any light.  I'll get back to you if I find any useful answers.
BTW Waylander, my local car parts shop sells a multicore cable containing all the appropriate colours for the "brain" to actuator loom.  The gauge is a little heavy, but given there is plenty of space under the "fire wall" cover, and also that those cables do carry a bit of current to drive the actuator, I figure it's a reasonable solution. I've just taken a photo and shall upload it for you once I have the appropriate permissions.  It means you just(? famous last words) need to desolder and resolder between the "brain" plug and actuator plug.

Thanks for the info,

I have all the plugs and connectors, all with about 75-100cm of wire still attached

I have also got a complete set of replacement capacitors for the cruise computer, I will replace those as they are the cause of constant acceleration and other weird CC related problems

Its finding the time space and energy to get on with it, had the parts for over 3 years now,
